Hongjoong arrived at his small studio apartment, immediately throwing himself on his bed. "How was your day Gerald?" he turned his head talking to the goldfish in a fishbowl by his bed. "Fascinating. Well, if I had to tell you about today... could've gone better. Look I even got kicked!" he raised his shirt showing the fish the bandage wrapped around his torso. "People suck ass Gerald."
The sound of the blaring alarm clock woke Hongjoong up from his sleep. "4:30 already...?" He didn't bother snoozing the alarm, instead unplugging the power cord from it. He sat up, waking up to continue on with his morning routine.
After finishing his routine and getting ready for the day ahead he ran over to Gerald's fishbowl, "See ya tonight Gerald, don't open the door for strangers."
"Someone please tell Hongjoong to stop being late." Yeosang complained as he stirred his coffee. Wooyoung stood up slamming his hand on the table, "Alright let's make a bet! Winner gets ten bucks from each! It's because of the café he goes to, yesterday he was late because of that."
Mingi spoke up, waking up from his nap "I bet he was too busy talking to the freaking fish."
Yunho thought about it before a moment before responding, "I bet he came to the station last night."
San contemplated as well before answering,
"Maybe he's dead. Yeah I bet he's dead."The others turned to him before Yeosang spoke up, "Are you trying to lose your money? I'm with Yunho on this one."
Just as they were about to begin Hongjoong came running through the meeting room door, "Sorry I'm late. I was halfway here when I forgot that I had to feed Gerald, so I went back and I kinda got... distracted."
Mingi punched his fist into the air in victory, "Haha losers, I win. Give me your money." The others groaned and complied, each handing Mingi the equivalent of ten bucks. "Did you guys bet on me?!" Hongjoong rested a hand on his hip. Yeosang rolled his eyes, "Well yeah. You've been pretty late recently, Agent Kim." Hongjoong sat down in a chair at the table, rubbing his temples, "I swear if anyone calls me that again. I'm putting a bullet through their forehead."
San coughed before starting the meeting, "Well since we're all here let's start before anyone gets a bullet through their forehead." He pulled a white board over with images and writing over it, "Here's what we have. The first body: Carl Greener, 29, his family is here on vacation, we still don't know the connection between him and well... Park Seonghwa. The second body: Noah Greener, 15, son of Carl Greener, several gunshot wounds, cause of death was a bullet to the heart. They've both been dead for around 14 hours."
"Judging by the fact that Park Seonghwa is involved means that we're working with... nothing." Mingi spoke up, clicking his pen. San nodded hanging his head low. Yeosang spinned his chair to face Mingi, "Well Mingi, Yunho didn't you guys question someone yesterday?" Yunho nodded opening his small notebook, "Yeah, Gyo Chanwoo. Pretty useless to be honest, he said that he was dumping out trash when he saw the body in the middle of alley. So clearly, they weren't trying to hide it. But the thing is.. fourteen hours is a long time. If he found the body at 6:00 am on Wednesday then that means they were dead since, Tuesday at 4:00 pm." The others noted down what Yunho had said, "Does he have an alibi? Clearly the alley doesn't have cameras so we couldn't use that." Mingi looked through his notes before responding, "Well he works at the Chinese resturant that's on the other side of the alley. We checked the time he clocked in, he's fine. But I saw that there was an employee that worked till 5:00 pm on Tuesday."
Hongjoong nodded looking up from his notes, "Alright. Yunho, Mingi you two can go check out the other employee from the resturant. Yeo, San is there anything on where their family is staying?" Yeosang nodded opening up his laptop, "Records show they checked into a hotel on Sunday, they haven't checked out yet so I'm assuming they're still there." Hongjoong looked at the address on the computer, typing it into his phone's gps, "Nice. Me and Woo will go see the family, you two keep looking into this. Call any of us if you find anything at all." The rest nodded getting up from the table.
Just as they were approaching the black patrol car a familiar face approached Hongjoong and Wooyoung, "My father- Uh Chief Choi heard you guys were gonna go question the family... he said I should accompany you two." Wooyoung chuckled getting into the passenger's seat, "Sure. Get in kid. I'm sure Agent Kim doesn't mind at all."
Hongjoong nodded proceeding to get in the car as he turned to Wooyoung, "The only thing keeping me from putting a bullet through your head is those security cameras."
Jongho got in the back startled at the sight, "I-is this normal? Are you guys arguing?" Wooyoung laughed and turned back to Jongho, "No don't worry about it, he's just moody. Still got those teenage hormones ya know."
Hongjoong rolled his eyes, pulling out of the parking spot. He then harshly stepped on the brake, causing Wooyoung's body to lurch forward, "Whoops. Look who forgot to buckle up." Wooyoung opened his mouth to yell at Hongjoong but refrained from and instead buckled his seat belt, sulking as he looked out the window.
As they drove the trio talked amongst themselves, reminiscing older cases. Jongho cleared his throat after a laughing fit he'd just endured, "Say.. how long have you guys been tailing Park Seonghwa?" Hongjoong sighed, "Three years." Jongho's eyes widened, "I bet that's frustrating.." "It is. Three years. Three damn years. We were working along smoothly for the first year together, daily cases and whatnot, then one day we were called about a mass body dump at a bridge. The bodies had all been dead from different time periods, some days, some weeks, some mere hours and some even years. 75 bodies total. Turns out he'd just dumped a bunch of people he'd killed over time at the bridge. But it didn't stop there, for the next three years it became a monthly thing. He always shows up again. It's infuriating."
Hongjoong's grip on the steering wheel tightened, Wooyoung took notice of this, "And that's where today's storytime ends." Jongho patted Hongjoong's shoulder from behind "Sorry man. Didn't know it was that deep." The eldest shook his head with a small grin, "Don't worry about it. One day we'll get him and I'll shoot him dead."
