A Percabeth High School A.U.

Annabeth

Percy and I sat on the floor in my bedroom. We were supposed to be studying for our history test tomorrow but for some reason we found ourselves doing everything but that. His green eyes sparkled as he tried stacking all of our textbooks on top of each other, making me laugh.
He had moved in next door with his mother exactly six years ago, when we were both ten. At first we had detested every bone in each other's body but after a couple of months we grew on each other.

We went to the same school but we had been practically strangers there. I mean I had wished it could be different and I had always wanted to go start a conversation with him there but my brain always decided against it. He had been part of the popular clique while I was just the girl who always kept to herself.

Percy had been my best friend but i doubted I was his. Maybe if I was he would have done something when his friends threw harsh slurs at me but he never did. Which I admit could sometimes hurt like fuck. I even had developed a small crush on him though it was obvious he'd never return it as he had been dating the smartest girl in the school, Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano.

At present though Percy had managed to stack seven text books before it all came toppling over. "Percy you can bend the pages if you do that!" I chided as I wacked him on the shoulder. He just doubled over in laughter at me reaction. That was when we heard a knock on the door before it flew open. "Hey kids, dinner's ready and please no injuring each other," my dad laughed as he grinned brightly at us.

Percy and I looked at each other. We had stuffed a lot of candy bars and chips not so long before so we had been pretty much filled up. "We just have a few more things to go over then we'll be right down," I lied not wanting my father to know the junk we had been having. He just nodded at us with a smile before leaving.

Percy and I started laughing again. "Wise girl you dad is pretty cool just when it comes to snacks he's ballistic," he retorted. I got on the bed and plopped down covering my face with my hands. "Ugh I know but that's just because Bobby and Matt over do it and has had to have way too many dentist trips in the past four years," I grumbled wanting to slap my little brothers.

Percy chuckled then came to drop down beside me. "Well at least my little brother hates candy," he boasted. I turned my head to face him, "Yes, Tyson is one of a kind." We just laughed and started talking about random things from new movies to...Reyna. I admit I did get jealous when he brought her up but I tried my best to hide it. Also somewhere around all that time the rain had started pouring down heavily onto the roof and thunder could be heard in the distance.

Around an hour later we heard my dad call for us to have dinner again so we decided that we should. As we both stood up and made our ways to the door the place went dark. "Fucking electricity," I grumbled under my breath. Percy got his phone out and switched the light on as we heard my dad yelling from downstairs. "Don't worry kids, it's all good but I think there's a storm coming but don't panic! We will survive!"

I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his last choice of words. Percy shone the bright light directly into my eyes making me grimace. "Gah stop or I'll go blind!" I demanded stepping back but crashed into the dresser. Percy laughted but quickly put his hands on my waist pulling me closer to him in means to steady my poor ass.

We both chuckled but then he put the phone light to my face again. Gods sometimes I hated this boy. I tried slapping his hand away and moving out of his grasp but for some reason that ended up being me against the wall with him blocking my passage as he continued being insufferable.

Eventually I started laughing too but stopped when the most unexpected thing happened. Out of no where the hand that had been on the wall blocking me moved to my face and his lips were against mine. The right thing to do would have been to push him off but of course my brain didn't comply with me as it made me pull him closer.

Our lips moved in sync for a while, the kiss getting more heated by the second. My fingers tangled in his hair as his hands trailed up and down my back going to my waist and slipping under my shirt. Before we could go any further the lights came back on and Percy jumped away from me looking as though he had come face to face with a chimera or something.

We had both been severly out of breath but I still managed to speak, "What's wrong?" Percy struggled to find the right words. "That shouldn't have happened- I- Reyna- I'm stupid I thought you were Reyna for a second. I have to go."

With that he was out the door. I wanted to stop him because the rain had been pouring outside but he didn't care. I rushed to my window a few minutes later to see him running down the street in the pouring rain. Finally he had reached his house and had been out of my sight.

I felt confused for a while but then it was like my heart had shattered. What did he mean he though I was Reyna? I was literally with him the entire evening. I didn't realize I had been crying until I put my hands up to my face. We just made out then he left without a word. Did I just lose my best friend?

The next few days things were different. He didn't text or call me and he refused to look in my direction at all times. It was like he hated me. I had tried talking to him in school but that was a huge mistake as he didn't even look in my direction. Instead he just turned and walked away letting his friends say what ever they wanted to me.

Two months later

Percy still hadn't said a word to me since that night in my bedroom so I had planned on confronting him tonight. My dad thought we had a fight so he also encouraged me to go over and talk to him.

I took a shower then changed into my converse, jeans and a black hoodie before marching out the door with the hood up. After passing three houses I had finally came to his. I felt my nerves building up as I knocked on the door. Thankfully when it opened Sally was the one standing there instead of Percy. "My dear, I'm guessing you're here you to finally make up with Percy?"

I didn't trust my voice so I just nodded as I put my hands in my pockets. She smiled warmly at me before letting me enter and disappearing into the kitchen. I made my way up the stairs slowly wanting to just turn around and leave but I had come here for an explanation so I kept on walking.

I knocked softly hearing him mummer to come in so I opened the door. His eyes immediately widened when he saw me. "Annabeth-" he started but I didn't let him finish. "Look I get you probably hate me but I need to know why. You kissed me that night," I blurted.

"I'm sorry...please don't be mad at me," Percy said his voice shaky. "Percy I'm not mad at you, just tell me why the hell have you been ignoring me for the past two months!" I exclaimed. He sat at the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. "I have feelings for you," he said after some time.

My head shot up, "What?" He looked at me. "I have feelings for you... that's why I kissed you...and why I broke up with Reyna but I know you don't feel the same way," he responded. I wanted to kick him in the shin. "You don't know what I feel Percy," I uttered.

He stood up and slowly walked towards me, "What do you mean?" I rolled my eyes and folded my arms as I went up to him and held his hand in mind. "I mean dummy...I have feelings for you too."

And with that I kissed him.
