Courtney looked at Trent. The fear in his eyes. She couldn't stand it.

"Trent...which way did she go?" Courtney asked, standing.

"I...north I think."

"Okay, then let's all go north." Courtney looked towards the rest of the group.

"Look, Courtney," Duncan said. "You're injured, I'm injured. We shouldn't be doing this!"

"That's it." Heather stood and walked over to Duncan, punching him in the face. "You are the most selfish person I've ever met, Nelson! Gwen may be hurt or worse and all you care about is yourself and your girlfriend!"

"I'm not his-"

"Courtney, if you don't shut up right now, I will rip that mouth off of your face."

Courtney shut up at the Asian's outburst.

Alejandro stood, "Courtney and Duncan should stay here." He threw a knife to Duncan, who caught it. "Heather, Trent, and I will look for Gwen."

Courtney blinked at Heather and Alejandro. These two were known as the most vicious kids at school. And yet, they were actually caring about Gwen, a person who Heather had tormented for years.

Alejandro helped Trent up and then the three of them walked into the woods as Courtney sat back down.

Courtney and Duncan sat in silence.

"So," Duncan gave a cough. "Were you really worried? When you saw me?"

Courtney blushed, "Yeah, but not in that way. You know that."

Duncan gave a small laugh, "I know, princess."

"Were you worried about me?"

Duncan blushed as well. "Yeah, but not in that way." He mocked, "You know that."

Courtney laughed, "I know, ogre."

Another bit of silence.

"You worried about Gwen?" Courtney asked him.

Duncan blinked at her, "Well, yeah. Course I am."

"How'd you break up?"

Duncan looked at her.

Courtney blushed and started to stammer. "I- sorry, no. That was a weird question! Let-"

"Our relationship turned toxic for a while. She, uh, she knew I liked someone else for a while. And I knew that she kind of had a thing for Elvis." Duncan explained, sighing. "When we started dating we felt like it was meant to be. We had so much in common. But, sooner or later, we realized that we were too much alike. So, she broke it off. But, she's like a sister to me. She always was. I just didn't realize it until we started dating.

"Who did...who did you like?"

"Huh?"

"You said that she knew that you liked someone else. Who was it?"

Duncan blushed, "I never stopped loving you, princess."

Courtney blushed as well, she moved to sit next to him. "You're still not my type." She said, leaning her head on his shoulder.

He'd laugh, "Fine, enjoy a Duncan-less life."

"Thanks, enjoy prison."

"I will."

Courtney leaned in and kissed him.
