From my favourite show that deals with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of important subjects, like PTSD, mental health recovery, lgbtqia+, loss etc.
I personally like Amelia Shepherd the most, because of how she was portrayed going through grief, addiction, personal growth and exploring herself. Absolutely love it. I secretely have conversations with her in my head when I need someone to talk to at 3 am or in a classroom, or when I don't have the strength to do anything but think.
Point is, imaginary friends are in my opinion, not childish. If you benefit from it, if you find comfort in talking to a fictional character, or making up your own world inside your head, that's okay. That's great. I was embaressed, but my therapist said that it actually is an exercise in therapy to create a 'safe haven' inside your headspace. That way you always have a safe place wherever you go, wherever you are, whatever time it is...
