I don't do blind dates, but with the luck I've been having I decided to take my girl up on her offer to fix me up. I'd sworn off men—not that I was signing up to bat for the other team, but a woman can only take so much.
There was the cheap date. Don't get me wrong I don't mind going Dutch, but come on. This man I'd known for a while asked me to dinner. We'd always enjoyed each other's company when hanging out with friends, so, without hesitation I said yes. I arrived at the restaurant and he was standing outside waiting on me. He looked scrumptious and when I leaned in for a hug he smelled just as good. I walked in on his arm feeling like the envy of every woman in the place. My own personal rule when a man takes me to an expensive restaurant, I let him order first. I don't want to break a brother, but I'm a woman who likes to eat. These curves weren't built on salads and being shy. If he aims high it gives me an idea of what he's working with money wise. If he orders a steak then I'm eating good that night. If he orders a salad I'm going to have to make a stop on my way home. This brother ordered the biggest steak on the menu, added a lobster tail, and sipped so many cocktails. I'd already decided I was giving him a ride home. He belched his thanks to the cook. I didn't fault him for that because the meal was all that and then some. He asked if I wanted dessert and of course I did. The waiter slid that slice of gooey chocolatey wonderfulness in front of me and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. What made it even better was my date sliding up next to me feeding me a couple of bites. Buzzed and all, this brother managed to keep my attention, had me all excited and I'm not ashamed to say a little wet too.
He asked for the check and I'm thinking "Yes daddy pay that check so we can get up out of here."
He got the check and passed it right to me saying, "I left my wallet at home and didn't want to leave you here waiting on me while I went back to get it. You get this one and I'll get the next."
My face said it all, "Oh hell no!" Talk about dousing the fire burning between my legs. That definitely did the trick.
He smiled when I reached for my purse and had the nerve to say, "That's my girl," but the joke was on him.
The best I could do was to cover my half. What grown man eats and drinks like that knowing he was sticking someone with the bill? I placed fifty bucks next to the check, and walked my hind parts out the door. I put an extra sway in my step just to let him see what he wouldn't be getting. Damn shame too. I'd been reading romance novels all week, got myself a little worked up. Since I'd known him for a while, I'd thought about giving him some—or more correctly—getting me some.
