chapter 49
Meghan's POV
The doctor walks in and tells Shane's nurse something, the nurse gasps "Oh my.."
"What? What happened?!" I stand up
"Do you happen to know Joey Graceffa, Gray Graceffa and Jake Phillips?" She looks at me
I nod "Yeah Grays my baby and Joeys my boyfriend.."
"Im sorry but.. They have gotten in a car crash the car caught on fire.. And one didn't make it.."
My eyes widen "No.." I shake my head "Who died?!"
Shane's sleeping and everyones out eating, so I'm the only one in the room.
"We don't know yet.. Thats all the police told us.. Im sorry" The doctor frowns
"Oh.. Okay" My eyes get watery
*A few minutes before*
Joeys POV
The car is upside down, I hang by my seat belts and feel blood dripping down from my forehead, The windshield is smashed, the glass is all over the place.
Grays screaming and crying from fear.
The fire starts from the other car but spreads over to mine.
"Gray.." I take my seatbelt off and flop down, but for some reason my leg doesn't move.
I shake my leg and notice my leg is stuck.
All the pain comes to me when I look at it, my leg got squished and is probably broken.
I look at Gray, he's perfectly fine, not even one scratch.
I smile reach for him, taking his seat belt off.
"Help! Someone help my daughter is stuck!" I hear a man yell from outside
"Oh no.." I grab Gray and open my door.
A cop walks up to me, holding a flash light.
"Take him.." I hold him up to the cop.
The cop grabs him "Ill bring him somewhere safe" he walks away.
A few cops run to my car and try to flip it over, no luck.
I cough from all the smoke, the fire spreads to where I am.
"No no.. I cant die like this" I try to pull my leg free but it doesn't move one bit.
I look up just in time to see the other car explode, which Makes my car fly back and flip over, my head bangs against the car seat and my leg hurts even more.
Now the car is back on its wheels.
My leg got free from the flip so I can get out, somehow.
"NO MY DAUGHTER" The man screams
I killed someone.. I killed a little girl and got Gray in danger.. Im such a fool.
I cry and shake my head.
"Hello, is anyone in there" A cop shines a flash light at me
"Yes I'm here! But I think my leg is broken" I yell back
"Just one moment we're trying everything we can"
My head and body starts to burn, the fire is so close I my as well be a marshmallow getting roasted on a fire pit.
I try to open the door but the handle melted.
I close my eyes and cross my fingers that I will survive this.
I look out the window realizing what has happened out there.
Two other cars has gotten on fire and theirs people running around screaming, a few dead people lying on the ground.
What have I done..
Shane's POV
"Shane... Shane" Meghan shakes me
"What.." I open my eyes
Meghan cries "Joey and Gray are in trouble"
"What happened?!"
"Th-they got In a car crash.."
My eyes get watery "All because of me.." I mumble
She doesn't reply.
She even knows its my fault.
Joeys POV
Everything gets blurry as the fire reaches me, I can hear cops yelling and running around.
My body gets so hot that I feel like melting.
Is this it.. Is this how I really die?
I cough and lean against my burning car seat.
Everything goes black as I black out.
*One day later*
I wake up to the sound of Meghan crying.
I slowly open my eyes
"Meghan.. Don't cry.." I try to talk but it comes out as a whisper
She looks at me and gasps "JOEY"
Everyone looks at me.
Shane smiles and stands beside me "Good morning"
"Shane... But.. How?!" I blink a few times
"The doctor said I can walk around.. And I can even leave the hospital if I want! But only for today.." He shrugs
I feel a sharp pain in my eye, it blurry so I cant see anything.
"Ow ow ow" I bring my hand up to my closed eye, it burns from the feeling of my finger.
"Be carful Joey" Meghan frowns "Your skin got burnt in the fire"
"Wheres Gray?" I look around
"The doctors are taking care of him.. He might be sick from the smoke" Tyler stands by the bed
"Oh.." I nod
I look down at my leg, theres a cast on it.
I sigh close my eyes.
Well my leg is broken.. But At least I made it out alive.
Shane has a few machines attached to him, he holds two machines and scrolls them around when he walks.
Everything that happened today.. Is so unbelievable..
*the next day*
"We have good news and bad news" The doctor walks into my room "For Shane Lee"
Everyone looks at him.
"So.. The good news is.. We know how to save you.. But the bad news is.. Theres a 25% chance of you surviving.." He frowns
"What are you going to do?" Shane nervously asks
"Well.. We are going to get new blood in you.. And try to take out your old blood.. And do a few other things that are too complicated to explain" He puts his pen in his pocket
"Ill take the risk.."
"Okay.." The Doctor writes stuff on his clipboard
"And news for Joey, You are fully taken care of and you can leave whenever you like" He smiles "You just need to wear this eyepatch" he takes an eyepatch out of his pocket "To let your eye heal and keep it safe" I grab the eyepatch and wrap it around my head.
"And yes.. Your leg is broken so your going to have to use Cruches // I don't remember how to spell it xD //
A nurse walks in with them and smiles, putting them up against the bed for me.
"Okay.." I nod
"Oh and Gray is doing very well! There is nothing wrong with him" The doctor softly smiles.
"Thank god" Meghan's eyes get watery
I smile and sit up, half of my vision gone.
I slowly move my legs and try to get out of bed.
Meghan and Shane help me stand up "Thanks.." I smile
They both smile back as I grab the Cruches.
I stand up and walk around with them, trying to get used to it.
"Is the height alright?" The doctor study's the way I use it
"Yeah, its okay" I nod
"Okay good" He smiles
I smile back
*****************************
We all got settled in, We got Gray back, Shane had to go back to his room and lay down, before his surgery.
I got used to seeing with one eye.
Shane's surgery is later tonight at midnight.. So he wanted to spend time with me until his surgery, just in case if its our last time together..
We sneak out of the hospital and make our way to the roof.
Shane helps me get up because of my broken leg and I help him, because of his stab wound.
We eventually make it to the roof top.
The roof is flat so we sit down and stare up at the stars.
Shane leans on me and smiles.
"Joey.." He looks at me
"Yeah?" I look at him and smile
"If I don't survive the surgery.." His eyes get watery "I just want you to know.. That I'm happy for you and Meghan, I'm happy for you and Gray, I'm happy that you will spend the rest of your life with the one you truly love" He tries to smile
I sniffle and wipe my eye "Oh Shane.." I hug him
He hugs me back and smiles.
"Love you.." He mumbles
I kiss his cheek, then lay down.
He lays beside me and stares up at the sky.
"Its so beautiful.." I smile
He doesn't answer, he must be distracted by the sky.
I close my eyes and relax for a bit.
Shane still hasn't said anything.. He's usually blabbing about stuff.
I open my eyes and look over at him, his eyes are closed.
Oh.. He's sleeping.
I smile and look at him.
But after awhile, his stomach stops moving.
"Wait.." I put my hand on his chest, theres no heart beat.
"Shane!" I yell and start freaking out.
"Why.. Why am I so stupid" I sob and shake my head.
"Shane say something... Don't go.. Don't leave me!" I shake him "Im sorry! Im sorry I got mad at you! I wont hurt you again! I wont be mean anymore" I promise to him "Ill make sure to buy you an Attack On Titan DVD the next time You wake up!" I try to smile "Y-your favorite show.." I mumble "Please Shane.." I slowly give up on trying to wake him up "Shane.." I cry and lay down, half on him and half on the cold floor of the roof.
After a few minutes Decide to stand up and drag him by the arm, not being able to pick him up because of my broken leg.
"HELP SOMEBODY HELP ME" I yell as loud as I can, while trying to figure out away to get down.
I let go of Shane's arm and walk to the edge of the roof.
A family of four get out of a car.
"HELP ME" I yell again
They notice me, the dad runs towards me and climbs the ladder.
He makes it to the roof "Whats wrong?!"
"My friend.. He's dead and I cant get down because of my broken leg" I point to Shane
"Oh my.." He walks up to Shane and picks him up then walks to the edge of the roof "Hey hun" he yells "Go get the doctors!"
"Okay" She yells back and runs into the hospital with her kids.
"How did your friend die?" He looks at me and frowns
"He.. Had poison in his blood, his surgery was supposed to be in a few minutes.." I softly cry
He sighs and shakes his head "And he's so young too.."
After a few minutes 10 doctors come up here and check Shane's pulse, laying him down.
They talk to each other for a while then one of them nods and picks Shane up.
Two doctors make their way down the ladder, with Shane in their arms.
"Here, let my help you down" A doctor walks up to me and softly smiles
"No its okay.. I can get down myself, just take these" I hand him my Cruches
He nods and grabs them.
I get on the ladder and use my arm strength to get down, only using one leg.
My face gets hot and my arms are burning by the time I reach the ground.
I hop to the wall and lean on it, trying to catch my breathe.
The doctors all get down and walk inside, one of then hands me my cruches.
I use them to walk inside.
Meghans POV
I nervously bite my nails and wait for Shane to show up for his surgery.
He was supposed to be back 30 minutes ago.. What if he.. No don't think like that.
David and Julia are both sleeping, Julia leans on David and snores.
Tyler is on his Iphone listening to music.
While I hold Gray and wait.
A few doctors walk down the hall, pushing a bed with someone on it.
I squint and look closer, he looks familiar..
As they get closer I realize who it is.
"Shane!" I gasp "he made it to surgery" I grin and feel really relieved, I'm glad he's going to be okay..
Joey slowly walks up to us, starring down at the ground with a blank face.
"Huh?" I stand up and walk to him "Whats wrong?" I ask him
"..Shane's dead" He looks up at me, his eye blank.
"What.. No.." I shake my head and back away
He sits down and stares at the wall.
I cry and sit back down, tightly hugging Gray.
"Whats happening?" Tyler takes his headphones off
"Shane's dead" Joey says with no emotion.
Tyler's eyes get watery "Oh.." His voice crackly and hopeless.
"Sorry" Joey says, again with now emotion "I let him die"
Tyler stands up and walks to him, Joey looks up at him.
Tyler grabs him by the shirt and growls "You let him die.."
"Go ahead.. Hurt me.. I don't care anymore" Joey stares into Tyler's eyes.
Tyler lets go of Joey and falls to his knees "I cant hurt you.." He sobs
Joey looks down at him.
"Why are you like this Joey?" I look at him
"Because.."He mumbles "I let Shane die" He repeats himself
"No you didn't, You probably didn't know! It wasn't your fault" I shake my head
He doesn't answer.
Oh, I know how to get him back to normal.
Tyler's still sobbing and covering his face with his hands.
I grab Joey and kiss him.
He doesn't do anything.
I frown and let go go him.
*A few hours later*
Joey falls asleep, Tyler blasts rock music and tries not to cry, Julia and David both tell each other jokes to try to cheer up.
A female doctor walks up to us and smiles "Hello I'm doctor Gagnon! And Im the one that did Shane's surgery"
"Hello" I half smile
Julia and David look over at her, Tyler takes his headphones off.
"The surgery went well! Shane is alive and breathing" She grins "And he's awake right now, so if you want to go see him, nows your chance"
"How did he survive?!" I stand up and smile
"It was very complicated but we somehow managed to get his heartbeat back! And we replaced his blood so he's nice and healthy"
"Thanks so much!" Tyler hugs her
"Oh" She looks surprised "No problem"
Tyler smiles and stops hugging her.
I wake Joey up and explain everything to him, he nods and stands up.
The doctor leads us to Shane's room.
We all walk in and look around.
Shane looks at us and smiles right away "Hey guys.."
"Sh-shane..." Joey bursts into to tears
I smile and sit down, Julia and David sit beside me.
Tyler stands by the bed.
"Joey.." He smiles
"I thought you died" Joey tightly hugs him.
Theres surprisingly no machines attached to him.
Shane weakly hugs him back "I thought so too.."
"What was it like? You know.. Being dead?" David asks him
I give David a weird look.
"What, I'm just curious.." David shrugs
"I don't really remember.. But I remember seeing Joey crying and yelling at me.. Back when we were on the roof, I think I was a ghost or something" Shane looks at David
"Wow! Thats so weird" Julia grins
Joeys still hugging Shane.
"So.. You promised to buy me an Attack on Titan DVD.. Right?" Shane smirks
"Of course, ill buy it as soon as I can" Joey smiles
I couldn't cheer Joey up.. And Shane cheered him up just by smiling.. I lightly sigh.
I think Joey truly loves Shane.. More then he loves me... Oh well.
After awhile everyone decided to leave the hospital, we all headed back to Shane, Julia and Davids place.
We watched Netflix and ate pizza.
It was super fun to have another night together.. Just like old times.. But kind of different.
I cuddle with Joey and smiles
Shane and Tyler both lean on each other.
Julia and David look at each other and blush.
Julia's POV
I awkwardly try to be romantic by wrapping my arm around David.
He leans on me and smiles.
I blush and look at him, he looks at me.
I blush even more as David smirks.
Our faces inches away from each other.
I go closer to kiss him but I end up hitting his nose.
"Ow!" I back up and grab my nose
"Oh! Im sorry" He blushes and try's to comfort me.
Everyone laughs, along with me and David.
I guess things can end happily ever after.. Even though you've been through so much, no matter how bad things get.. Things will always get better, no matter what
