Wild thought, but: what if—just what if—maybe Jinsol was, by chance, stalking Jungeun? Just a tiiiiiny bit? That seemed to be the only explanation as to why they've run into each other yet again, in areas Jungeun would least expect to see Jinsol.
"Hi—"
"Jungeun, is this the girl you went out with?" Jiwoo said, a bit too loudly.
Jungeun hissed for Jiwoo to shut up, cheeks flaming hot in embarrassment. She completely missed the little chuckle Jinsol had let out.
"Uh, Jinsol. H-hi. Um...I didn't know you lived around here?" Jungeun tried to sound casual. Or as casual as someone whose voice shook more than one of those massage chairs at the mall Jiwoo would always insist they try.
"I don't," Jinsol gave her a soft smile. "Sooyoung and I just got finished working out."
Like the absolute dunce she was, Jungeun looked at Jinsol's exposed arms and felt her legs threaten to turn into jelly. They weren't flexed at all, but knowing that they were strong and could probably pick her up and throw her twenty yards with no effort made her feel something. There was a fleeting vision of Jinsol trapping her against a wall with those arms. She also was reminded of when Yaebin interrogated her and asked if Jinsol had been sweaty when they bumped into each other at the store.
"Oh. Nice."
Jungeun truly was the master of responses.
But Jinsol didn't seem to mind as she asked, "You two come here often?"
"Ah, no. Jiwoo and I were taking a walk—"
"You're so pretty!" Jiwoo interrupted. "Jungeun is so bad with describing people, she never told us you were gorgeous!"
"Wha—I said she was pretty!" Jungeun defended, trying and failing miserably to will away the heat in her cheeks.
"But not 'model' pretty! Yaebin and I need details, Jungeun!" Jiwoo beamed up at Jinsol. "Hi, my name is Jiwoo, and I'm Jungeun's best friend."
Jinsol didn't seem fazed at Jiwoo's attitude in the slightest. She smiled as if she dealt with Jiwoos daily. "Jungeun talks about you often."
"Not as often as Yaebin, I'm sure."
Jinsol shrugged. "Yeah, you're right."
The sound of someone clearing their throat loudly disrupted the conversation. Jungeun and Jiwoo turned around to see that they were at the front of the line, the vendor giving them an annoyed look.
"Oh!" Jiwoo rushed up, the others following behind. "Two spicy rice cakes please!" She politely ordered, reaching in her pocket to take out her money.
But Jinsol lightly brushed past the duo, digging in the pocket on the side of her gym bag. "Make that four, sir. I'm paying."
The guy nodded, preparing the food for the girls. Jiwoo grinned at Jungeun, murmuring something about having a "rich girlfriend" that caused Jungeun to shush her with a slap to the arm.
Once they received their food, they walked over to an empty corner on the sidewalk to eat.
"Thanks, Jinsol!" Jiwoo exclaimed, biting into her food.
"It's my pleasure," the older smiled.
Jungeun could barely eat her food. She felt bad that Jinsol had to pay for both her and Jiwoo's food. They weren't even supposed to be seeing each other, yet it was like Jinsol had a built-in Jungeun Detector or something.
"Jungeun, eat!" Jiwoo ordered.
Jinsol's big eyes were on Jungeun then, causing her heart to speed up. "Did you not want that?"
