The eerie sun was setting low on the horizon as I finally made it to Death City after having received a note from Lord Death himself asking me to come attend the academy as a new professor. I sighed heavily as I knew this year was not going to be easy with scythes, weapons, and meisters running around carelessly. There was an urgency in the letter for I noticed it was written quickly, and it had many scratched areas from where the ink had not made it to the paper. I looked at the sheet of paper once again to see if I had made a mistake in arriving here at such a late time. "A.S.A.P." the letter stated. "Well I left not too long ago so hopefully I'm not too late," I murmured to myself. I picked up my luggage and towed it the rest of the way behind towards the large academy.

"Hello, hello~!!" a familiar voice called out in a bright blue room. "So glad to see you again, (Y/N)~" Lord Death exclaimed excitedly in his usually high pitched voice. "How has life been treating you lately~?" he asked.

I smiled kindly like I always have towards him and replied sweetly, "It has been fair..." I  trailed off a bit when I noticed a man in a stitched lab coat walk casually into the room smoking a cigarette. He wore glasses and had a stitched dark colored sweater with black pants and white shoes. he walked towards us and stopped next to me with a puff of smoke from the cigarette. I coughed slightly but tilted my head away from him in embarrassment. 'He is good looking..' my thoughts sung in my head. 'shut up...' I thought blushing a darker crimson.

"Lord Death, you wished to speak to me?" he asked in a slow and deep calm voice as he shifted his weight to lean on his heels keeping his hands in his pockets causing his lab coat to shift backward and drape farther behind him.

Lord Death cried out cheerfully, "Ah yes~! This is (Y/N), your new assistant and scythe. Do make her feel at home for she is here to help out with some of the issues that have been sparking up lately. His voice suddenly deepened causing goosebumps to pop up all over my body. "I fear there may be a war right around the corner and even then no one will be safe. Therefore, if that is to happen, i will need you and (Y/N) to work together to eliminate the problems at hand...." he stated but soon regained his high voice once again. "I know i can count on the both of you~!" he did a peace sign with his fingers. "Victory, victory~!!" he called out cheerfully.

I sighed in embarrassment, not even contemplating how his son could stand him or even stand to know that the entire school knows that Lord Death is his father. "Yes, sir. I won't let you down..." I stated with a slight bit of confidence in my voice.

I noticed a bit of movement out of the corner of my eye and noticed that Dr. Stein took his cigarette out and dropped it onto the ground smothering it. "We will not fail you, Lord Death. The Kishins will be destroyed and the witches will be cast away from all humanity..." he stated calmly and smoothly. I nodded in support considering I didn't know what else to say. I watched Dr. Stein walk out of the room and I followed behind him hesitantly.

A few minutes later after walking down a dark hallway he spoke up. "How do you like it here at the academy so far?" he asked kindly.

I blushed as I didn't expect him to start acting kind towards me. "I- I actually used to go to school here..." I stated softly in embarrassment.

I noticed him smirking as he vanished into a classroom. I heard a slight bit of chatter and peeked inside. "Class, welcome one of the newest teachers, (Y/N). She just transferred to the academy and is willing to help any of those who need it. She will also be helping me in class for the time being..." he stated calmly, though surprisingly the class hushed in respect for him.

I walked shyly into the classroom and looked around with a shy but kind smile towards the students. I heard what seemed like a wolf whistle from one side of the classroom and everyone turned towards where the sound came from. I blushed and quickly hid my face behind my (Y/C) hair.

Dr. Stein placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder as the blue-haired boy was wailing with arrogant laughter. "Black Star..." his voice drawled out. Just then, there was a loud smack and thud sound in the room. A petite, blonde-haired  girl was holding a book over the place of where the boy was and he was face first into the ground about ten feet below where he was seated. "That's enough, Maka..." Dr. Stein stated calmly as he looked at Black Star. "I appreciate your kindness for our new teacher, but Lord Death wishes to see him in his office.." he stated as he patted my shoulder lightly.

"(Y/N), would you like to show him to his office?" he asked politely.

I was about to answer when the boy brushed past us and walked down the hallway in the direction of Lord Death's office, "I don't need directions; I'm a star~!" he called out arrogantly.

I sighed in a bit of frustration and stress after he left the room. "This is going to be a long year..." I stated softly under my breath.
