Insanity is the Key to Purity (Dr. Stein x Reader)

Chapter 4

I woke up screaming with tears running down my cheeks and in a sobbing mess. "Stein!!!!" I screamed out in the dark room. 

"It is okay, (Y/N)," a voice stated. "I am right here.... I am alright... See?" it added.

I looked and found Stein sitting on the edge of my bed with a sympathetic smile on his face. I smiled as I quickly tackled him on the bed into a bone-crushing hug. "Stein, oh-my-god~!!! I was so scared you really died!!!" I cried out as I sobbed into his shoulder. 

He pat my back soothingly, unfazed by our position or my reaction. "I see the madness is affecting you too..." he stated with his normal smooth voice. He continued to rub my back as I clung onto him tighter almost as if to make sure he was real. 

I looked up at him with a red face and still wet eyes when I spoke. "What did the voice mean when it said 'This is your fate.. This is your future...'?" I asked with a slight choke in my voice. 

He smiled as he kissed my forehead. "I do not know, but it would be best if you tried to go back to sleep..." he stated kindly. "I will be here until you do.." he stated with his warm smile. 

I blushed as I got off of him and snuggled under the covers. "S-Stein?" I asked quietly. 

"Yes?" he replied with curiosity as he looked at me. 

"Can you please hold me until I fall asleep?" I asked embarrassed about the favor. 

"If you wish for me to.... I understand what it is like to wake up from a nightmare only to find it is just that but have a sneaking suspicion that is is more than that... That it is more real than what it is leading on..." he stated with an almost thoughtful voice. 

I blushed not expecting that reaction from him. I tilted my head closer to the pillow as I felt a warm arm wrap around me. It was muscular and comforting. I felt his body pressed gently against mine even through the comforter and sheets. "Stein?" I asked softly. 

"Yes, (Y/N)?" he replied a bit hesitantly. I could feel his blood heating up just from touching the skin of his arm. 

"Thank you... For everything..." I stated as I snuggled closer to him. My face was beet red from embarrassment but it felt comfortable to be around him. The air was silent as I could feel the space under the sheets warming up tremendously. "S-Stein...? A-are you alright....?" I asked concerned. 

"Yes, everything is alright, (Y/N). Sweet dreams.." he said softly as he kissed the back of my head and I fell in a deep and restful sleep.

I woke up to a bright ray of sunlight pouring in on my face. I felt two arms wrapped around me, with me facing a man with silvery-white hair and a screw in his head. He wore a stitched pair of flannel pajamas and slippers that matched. he snored lightly and his eyes were closed peacefully. I blushed a crimson red from what happened last night causing him to end up sleeping in the same bed as me. 

I felt something tickling my nose causing me to sneeze. Startled, Stein's eyes flashed wide open showing he was alert and ready. When he saw me, his face immediately reddened and he sat up. "I apologize for such rudeness. I should have left as soon as you fell asleep and not stayed with you the rest of the night..." he stated embarrassed. 

I reached up and rested my hand on his shoulder. "No, it's fine... You managed to keep all of the nightmares and demons away... " I smiled kindly as I shyly ruffled his hair. "Come on. We should go and eat breakfast before school starts." I stated as I got up off of the bed and headed out into the kitchen to make us both some breakfast.
