Chapter 5: The Land Before Time

The skies we're gray and a blasts can be heard nearby, soldiers we're running and bombs were falling from the skies. It was a battlefield, dead bodies we're scattered across the land. In the distance lies a soldier who was sneaking around a wrecked building, he was cautiously pointing his gun as he entered and snick in room by room. He was interrupted by a blast from outside which made the ground shake and made the roofs tear apart that led debris fall onto him, when he noticed this he quickly looked for cover and as he was, he brought out his handheld transceiver and made contact, he said desperately, 'I'm inside the building...' then he brought out another thing, it was perfectly cut gem. The gem was color blue, and was the size of his palm and stated, '...I've retrieved the gem,' 'Great work soldier, we're sending a chopper heading to your location, standby and keep safe until it arrives,' the responder replied, the call was short when he heard a door banging inside the building, he quickly rose from his position and locked loaded his gun. 'We saw him go here,' a man said, 'Quick look for him, we need the gem,' another man said, and the group scattered in the building looking for the soldier, as it happened, the soldier heard everything, he was hiding behind a counter. Suddenly his transceiver picked up a call, 'Soldier, the chopper's heading to your location get to the roof as quick as possible,' this caught the attention of the group looking for him, so he quickly raced to the rooftop of the buidling while being chased by the group, at the same time he was being gun downed by this mob. 'I'm being attacked,' he stated to his responder, he finally went up the rooftop, and looked for something to block the door heading the rooftop, he saw this plank and slid it onto the crank. The door to the rooftop was blocked, and the mob weren't able to enter, the soldier quickly looked to the skies and saw the chopper heading to his way, as this was, he heard the mob banging the door open, the chopper landed and just in time he was able to ride it and get out of the location, The mission was successful.

1 year later this soldier ranked up, he was finally a commander. They were stationed in the cities, they had base that were equipped with artilleries, high in security and was roaming with soldiers. 'Commander Ford, the General has requested for your presence,' a soldier stated, Commander Ford proceeded to look for the General, he was walking formally and was looking through the base the soldiers we're enhancing themselves by exercising, familiarizing with the tech and practice shooting. He arrived in a disclosed area of the base, as he entered he saw the general at his table, wearing his glasses, and was reading so many books that were piled up on his table. 'Oh! Commander Ford, finally!' The General said in a cheerful tone, he stood, looked at Ford and added, 'I've seen you've wore your uniform, can't get enough of that do you?' 'Pity, your General, I've seen you've been very busy working on your library,' Ford stated in a sassy tone, the General stuttered and organized his books accordingly, '1 year ago, you were just a soldier, I never imagined you'd be a Commander after that mission,' he said, 'That gem really did brought you luck huh?' he added, 'Perhaps not, Death at the time was waiting for me, the gem might have predicted if I died or lived,' Ford stated, 'But I didn't wait for it to manifest itself, I only did what I was told,' he added, 'Good thing those Asians didn't catch you,' the General added, 'Anyway, I have something for you to do, this is between me and you,' he added, they looked at each other, Ford was figuring what he'd say, 'What do you mean?' 'My team has captured this lady in the expedition to Delbarma, she claimed to be a whistle blower from the Japanese Government, she was very hostile at the time but we've managed to calm her down by using this weapon,' the General said as he brings out an instrument that had a handle and two antennas that resembled a fish fork but was enlarged. The General activates it by turning it around then zaps of yellow electricity can be visible, he stated, 'They call it the destabilizer, this baby disrupts their physical form and poof! They're back in their gems!' Ford looks at it intently but didn't get it, 'Chap, this isn't allowed, haven't you heard what the government said, Gem property are for them to study, all we have to do is follow their orders,' he said, 'You're weak Ford, no wonder they put you in this position because what? You're a dog,' the General said in an insulting tone, 'What did you say?' Ford said in an offended tone, 'I mean you can't possibly be just following their orders, we have rights, we have to know atleast something about this beings,' the General said in persuation, 'Oh, It's a shame your only letting them use you,' he added, 'First of all I'm not a dog, second I put myself in this position for the sake my own, and this is all for the country, don't mess with my head,' Ford justifies Chap, this made Chap giggle, he said, 'Well in that case, you can go now,' Ford walked away insulting Chap, 'But wait, I know you Ford, you're a great man, If you truly care for something, you would,' he added, Ford continued to exit the area and went back to his office.
