"tess!" my mom shouts up the stairs. i stay silent. i hear her walking towards my door, but i don't pay attention. she walks into my room.
"tess i'm going-" she stops herself, "honey, it's going to be okay. you don't need him." she says, sitting by me on my bed as i look through pictures of my ex and i.
"i know, i'll be fine," i say pretending i'm okay, "what were you going to say when you walked in?"
"oh, i was going to tell you that i'm going to cassie's volleyball game and i was going to ask if you wanted to come." she tells me. cassie is my cousin.
"i don't know mom, i don't feel like it." i say.
"come on, aunt libby wanted to see you there." aunt libby is my mom's sister, i'm super close to her.
"oh alright, i'll go. but i'm only doing this for aunt libby." i tell my mom, getting up to put my shoes on.
"are you going to change?" my mom asks.
"do i have enough time?"
"yeah, the volleyball game doesn't start until 7:30." my mom says, walking out of my room. i walk to my closet, picking out something to wear.

i finally pick out an outfit and put my hair in a cute messy bun. i grab my keys and walk out of my bedroom.
