"I just need that one person, who will listen to all my problems"

S A V A N N A H:

"Can I get a large cheese pizza beautiful?" Sam flirts with the girl on the phone

"Of course" she giggles

"See, she wants some of this" Sam gestures to his body as he hangs up.

I don't understand how Sam manages to flirt behind a phone while not even seeing the damn girl

"All seriousness though, you good Savvy?" He ask pulling me on the couch with him

I sigh "No not really. Like I knew my dad was a horrible father to me" I pause taking a deep breath. "But I didn't know he would go as far as hitting me"

He looks at me intently, trying to come up with the right words. "From what I heard, he was probably shocked, like everyone else, that you stood up to him. But that doesn't give him the right to put his hands on you, even if you're his daughter. No grown man should be putting his hands on a female especially my Savannah" he pulls me closer and hugs me.

I close my eyes breathing in his minty scent. "He said he doesn't want me to come back home"

"You shouldn't. That was a toxic ass environment. You was working, cleaning, going to school and paying half of those damn bills. And if I'm being honest I do blame yo momma a little bit. I love her like my second mom but she sat there and let him treat you like shit."

"She was working most of the time" I try to defend her

"Yeah but she knew what was happening when she was there and when she was gone. I tried to speak up for you once, we all did. Your brother, sisters and chase. But you pops and momma said it wasn't our place because we weren't your parents" he sighs. "And truly I feel like it's partially my fault. I watched you everyday get mistreated by that bum ass nigga. But after I stood up once I never did again out of respect. Because you're parents did help me for a lot but that doesn't excuse them from being shitty. I'm so sorry Savannah"

I look up at him. I was surprised he let all that off his chest. Normally he would try to crack a joke to make me feel better but instead he expressed his ill feelings towards my parents

I never really thought of how my mom was in the wrong. My mind was always set that it was my fathers fault. She did watch me get talked down to and mistreated everyday. When she would come home I would tell her of all the horrible things he has said or did to me and she would just say " just ignore him. He's a drunk"

Was my mom really the bad guy?

"Sam, please don't apologize. You didn't do anything wrong." I hug him tighter. "I love you"

"I love you too Savannah" he gives me a squeeze and kisses me on the forehead. "But you know, if people ask how you got those bruises, Jus say you were fighting off some niggas. You'll seem like a bad ass"

I start laughing "boy you're so stupid"

He shakes his head grinning "Nah i just think smarter" he says as there's a knock at the front door.

He opens it revealing a boy no older than 17. He hands the Sam the pizza and tells him the cost.

"Here you go man. Keep the change" Sam says closing the door. "Man I thought it was gonna be the girl from the phone I was trynna hit that wit her sexy ass voice" he says walking to the table and taking out a piece of pizza for me and him.

"You're too horny" I say taking a bite of pizza

"Um says you. Bet you be hopping on Easts dick anytime you're alone" he says sitting next to me on the couch. "When you gonna tell everyone?" He ask

"Um soon I think. I just don't wanna cause anymore drama. I have enough surrounding me" I say.

It's true I really did not need another set of problems on my list

"Yeah I think you should take your time. God knows Shane's gonna flip when he finds out his best friend is fucking his little sister"

My eyes widen. "Don't say it like that. It sounds horrible"

"What?" He looks at me "I'm just keeping it real witchu like always. Whatchu gonna say?
'Dave and I have been expressing our love on the down low' he mocks my voice "nigga be realistic"

"I am being realistic" I argue "I know Shane is gonna take it hard that's why I'm gonna start dropping subtle hints, to see how he reacts and all"

"Girl you be playing too much, if I was you I would just say it"

"But I'm not you Sam"

"I know and you be considering other people's feelings and shit. There's no problem with that but you gotta stop thinking about others and start living your life. All this secret relationship shit gotta come to an end soon. You aren't in high school anymore, hiding you're boyfriend from your family and shit. You're grown." He rants which I actually love.

If you ever need an answer, go to Sam. He will say it how it is no matter how harsh. Which I really appreciate.

I have to start thinking about my future. I have been living in a little fantasy bubble these past months. Keeping Dave and our secret all the myself. Do I really want to be with Dave? When are we going to start being in an actually relationship and not sneaking around?

"You're right" I say looking up at my blunt best friend "I have to be realistic. Either way I know Shane's going to be mad but he will get over it. And I'll talk to Dave and we will tell him soon. Promise"

"Aight good, but can you answer your goddamn phone East been blowing it up. Can't even talk in peace without a nigga calling you down" he playing rolls his eyes as I pick up my ringing phone.

"Hello" I say into the phone

"Savannah, I need you and Sam  to come get me now" Dave painfully coughs

Sorry for the little cliffhanger but the chapter was getting a bit long

Thanks so much for reading!

Do you agree with everything Sam said? Or is he being too harsh?

I would love to hear some of your opinions!

All the love 💗
