"HOME SWEET HOME!" Asher proclaims, flinging himself of the couch once we're inside.

"Finally. Mom, can I hang out with my friends?" Mia groans.

"Mia, it's after eight. You should be getting ready for bed."

"But-"

"No, I'm sorry. Maybe Saturday."

"Ugh," she groans, making her way to her room. She ends up falling asleep in ten minutes, that's all I'm gonna say.

Asher, who can function on less than four hours of sleep, is jumping around the place.

"Wee! Wee! Wee! Wee! Mommy, I'm hungry. Ooh! Can I talk to Ashlynn? I haven't talked to her in forEVERRR! Also can I have ice-cream? I'm hungry. Mommyyy-"

"That's it. You're going to Kenny. I love Maria too much and I need sleep," I call Kenny, informing him of his new plans. As soon as he shuts the door with Asher in hands, well, over shoulder, I skip showering and collapse into bed for another 12 hours of sleep...

Just kidding I have work in the morning.

---

"Good morning, Jenny," Timothy greets as I enter our office.

"Hey Timothy. What's new?"

"Let's see... there are two new orders. A Doritos billboard, and a poster for a concert."

"I call Doritos billboard." I say without missing a beat, already getting out my notepad and sketchbook.

"Wait, that's not fair."

"Yeah it is. I called it first, you're too slow. What do they want on it?"

"But I already have the notes and-"

"Really? Perfect. Pass those, please."

"What if I say no?" Timothy narrows his eyes. I laugh, then stare right into them.

"Then I'll take them. Easy or hard way, Timothy. Easy or hard way."

Sensing the seriousness in my demand, he reluctantly hands over the notes for the billboard. "Damn, so bossy."

"You're coming to the party tonight, right?"

"Your promotion party?" He grumbles, working on the poster. Insert evil laugh here.

"Yeah, that. I mean, if you find it weird or something-"

"No, no. It seems like fun. I'll be there."

"Great, it's at Kenny's house at seven pm. I would give you an invitation, but it's all on Kenny." I laugh.

"Can't wait," he says, looking up at me and smiling.

---

"Wow, this party is crazy," Mia says behind me as we approach Kenny's front door.

"Uh-huh," Keisha, her best friend, agrees.

At the moment Asher is with the neighbours, and I told Mia she could bring one friend. Thankfully, the party isn't too wild, so I won't feel guilty about them tagging along. The music is pumping loud enough to hear it from the driveway, but not enough to disturb anyone. Inside, there is a table of snacks and drinks (which consists mostly of alcohol), and it looks like Kenny's parents are busy preparing more refreshments.

"Jenny! My ride or die, what's up girl?" Maria pulls me in for a hug, and I can already tell she's drunk. "Mia, Keisha, hey girls."

"Hey," they reply in unison, then Mia taps my shoulder. "Mom, Keisha and I are gonna chill in the basement." I nod and they leave.
