Accept the imperfections of life, and be happy.
I... don't like pork steaks.
I don't like the fatty chunks on meat. To me, it would be closer to perfect if those fat chunks were gone.
But you know, perfection is an illusion. So is the illusion of ownership, time, death, and happiness. Nothing in this world is yours, and the things that bring you joy are a chemical algorithm in the fleshy computer we call a brain.
Now you may be thinking: "what a pessimistic bitch"
And while that may be circumstantially true—truth is also an illusion—I mean no ill will towards the pursuit of an illusion. Good and bad are relative to every object on this world. I pursue happiness by drinking peach and passion fruit tea, practicing the french horn, and listening to soundtracks.
Speaking of soundtracks, this entry is inspired by a film with a beautiful soundtrack called The Tale of Princess Kaguya directed by Isao Takahata. The score is written by Joe Hisaishi. You may be familiar with the company it was produced by, Studio Ghibli, who produced many popular movies, such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo. However, this movie never rose to fame, due to its enigmatic plot.
Without spoiling the film, the main character eventually learns that her true happiness does not lie in wealth and perfection, but rather in the birds, bugs, beasts, and trees: in all of the imperfections of our world.
I am not preaching the value in suddenly turning into a nature guru, but rather, follow your true happiness, illusion or otherwise. If your happiness is an illusion and your selfishness a survival instinct, then the whole world is dust and light, and everything you see is what you make of it.
...these entries always start on the road I meant to take, but along the way I end up wandering off and forgetting my original goal. Although, sometimes the the most gratifying journeys are ones you take for the sake of the journey and not the destination.
Your life is too short too short to scramble at a farce of perfection. Pursue your happiness and struggle towards your dream. Find happiness in the journey and keep an open mind. As they say, time flies when you're having fun.
Go.
