Castiel enjoyed watching God's creation adapt. He was a little angel, just created by God. His first memory was watching first fish haul itself out of the raging ocean and onto the shoreline. Castiel thought it was a loose Leviathan and tried to step on it.

"Don't step on that fish Castiel. Big plans for that fish." He remembered hearing his older brother Gabriel.

That was back in a time when Heaven was peaceful. When Angels were told to have undying love for their father, and all of them obeyed. Before God created Humans.

Castiel sat on a puffy white cloud, practicing his flying skills. He hadn't grown into his feathery black wings yet, so he hadn't learned how to use them. He always watched his older brother Gabriel flap his wings. Castiel envied him. Gabriel had 4 mighty golden wings that could blow Castiel off of his favorite cloud with a single flap.

Castiel sighed at the thought.
Gabriel can fly with 4 wings and I can't even use my 2 wings.

He stood up, stretching his wings. They were just barely longer than his arms.
I'm going to learn how to fly right now. Gabriel won't have anything to tease me about then!

Castiel flapped his wings, every flap getting stronger. He flapped as hard and as fast as he could, until he felt the softness of the cloud from his feet.

The angel gasped with excitement.

"I'm doing it!" He cried joyously.

Even if he was just flying in place, 2 inches above the ground, he was still flying.

"You do realize you have to move when you fly right?" Gabriel asked.

"Gabriel!" Castiel fell out of the sky and onto a cloud, frightened by Gabriel's sudden appearance.

"Did you see me? I was flying! My wings do work! Father will be so proud of me!" Castiel gushed over his brief flight.

"Speaking of Dad, you know you are supposed to be at the gathering with the rest of the angels right? He is doing something huge."

Before Castiel could say anything, Gabriel snapped his fingers.

The angels appeared in a field, the sky lighting up with lightning and thunder so loud the ground shook.

All of the other angels were there, each silent and staring at something that Castiel couldn't see. To many wings blocked his vision.

"What is that?" Castiel heard Lucifer, one of the most faithful angels whisper.

"Children!" Castiel recognized God's voice. Of course no one saw him, no one has ever seen God, but they all knew the sound of his voice.

"Children. I have created human, my most beloved creations. You will bow down before them, you will love them more than myself."

And the angels obeyed. All but one. Lucifer.

"Father!" Lucifer cried out, flying high above all the others with his mighty wings. The crimson splotched, pearl wings were better than Gabriel's in every way.

" I can't! These human beings are flawed! Murderous! Why should we bow down to these... lesser beings?" He spat.

Lucifer, so full of pride, began a war in Heaven. Lucifer fought a loosing battle. God easily struck him down with a single bolt of lightning.

His once beautiful wings started to have holes burned through them, making the glorious color's fade into an almost black ash. Shrieks could be heard frim him.

What happened next has been burned into Castiel's mind. With one last final shriek, Lucifer was sent to Hell.

The last thing Castiel remembered was Gabriel taking him into his arms, and flying off.

God had later told the angels if they defied his order, they would join Lucifer. Some angels did. Gabriel had protected him from those angels, and helped Castiel learn how to be a good little angel.
