Every angel had to watch over man kind. They were there to protect them and guide them through their terribly short lives.
When Death greeted them, the angels would guide the souls into Heaven, and allow them to start their afterlife in a holy paradise.
Castiel loved watching the people adapt to their ever changing world. They were so... strange. Each individual soul having its own path to take. Each and every one of them unique in every way. Each soul having choices to face every day, some big and some small.
Castiel loved to watch over a specific group of people. The Winchester family.
They were so loyal to one another. They were stupid, but loyal. At the moment, he was watching a young man named John carry home his second child from his favorite cloud.
"Hey Cassie! Look what I got!" Gabriel swooped in from the sky and sat next to his brother.
He held two suckers in his hands, unwrapping them from their wrappers.
Castiel cocked his head."What are those?"
Gabriel stuck a red sucker in his mouth.
"Something the humans created. They are delicious!" He flapped his giant wings with joy, knocking Castiel off the cloud.
"Hey!" Castiel beat his wings quickly so he wouldn't fall through the fluffy white clouds.
Gabriel chuckled. "Oh so you really have been practicing your flying skills eh?"
"Of course." Castiel sat back down on the cloud, a little annoyed.
The bigger angel peered down to see what Castiel was looking at.
"Ugh you aren't really watching those Winchester folk again are you? Geez, all they ever even do is hunt!"
"I admire how loyal they are." Castiel said defensively. He wrapped his wings around himself like a blanket.
Gabriel sighed. "So that's how you spend your time? Just watching some guy beat the daylights out of a random monster?"
Castiel nodded.
"Why not go down there and witness it firsthand?"
Castiel stared at his brother, his blue eyes wide. "We can do that? I thought we weren't allowed to leave Heaven?"
"Of course you are! You just have to promise me one thing."
"Anything Gabriel!"
"You have to promise me that you won't ever leave without me by your side."
Castiel nodded excitedly. "I promise!"
"Good, but first you need a vessel."
