the winter sky colours coalesced into a feeling of serenity for mingyu and wonwoo.
the sun was slowly moving closer to the horizon making way for the night and the stars that would follow.
wonwoo lay his head on mingyu's shoulder, watching the sunset. his eyes moved to examine mingyu who looked alluring, all basked in the glory of the evening sky. kim mingyu was indeed the definition of beautiful. "its so pretty." the boy with glasses said, staring at the sky and the boy who sat near him.
"i know! i told you the hype was real!" mingyu smiled, pointing his hands towards the sky, explaining about how it looks like a palette of colours for an artist. the raw excitement evident on the younger's face was enough to make wonwoo smile.
"wonwoo?" mingyu called for the other boy, who seemed deep in thought, staring off to the sky. wonwoo hummed in reply. mingyu took wonwoo's hand in his, intertwining their fingers and gave it a squeeze. "i love you too." those words were enough to make wonwoo look at the younger before leaning in.
as mingyu felt the older's lips on his, he froze. it was soft like a flower petal which made mingyu melt like butter on a stack of warm pancakes. his eyes slowly fluttered close, breathing in the feeling of euphoria wonwoo's lips brought him. mingyu couldn't stop but push back the nagging feeling that tugged his heart. isn't this too good to be true? mingyu could slowly feel his heart drop and his senses getting overwhelmed by fumes of agony which pulled him into an abyss of harsh reality.
mingyu woke up hearing the annoying sound of machines and saw himself tied in all sorts of wires connected to machines.
what happened? why is he in a hospital? more importantly where's wonwoo? his thoughts were interrupted by the entry of a tall, lean guy who was dressed too stylish for a hospital.
"hey ming-- oh you're up?" the guy asked, placing a bag of medicines or something of sorts on the table. "you feeling okay bro?" the guy asked in concern.
"why am i here minghao?" mingyu asked the other boy. "where's wonwoo? is he outside? did i faint?" mingyu asked, rambling away.
"wonwoo-? didn't you guys break up a few days ago?" the younger guy asked, furrowing his eyebrows. minghao's words was a slap of reality to mingyu which left a bitter taste on his senses.
"w-what-?" mingyu felt a sharp pain on his head which made tears escape his eyes. that's when memories came crashing in.
he remembers walking back from college, all giddy to text wonwoo about how his day went. all mingyu got was a break up text. he thought of it was prank and brushed it off hoping the older would give up and text him. mingyu didn't get the expected text even when the sky darkened.
he decided to text wonwoo and ask him to stop but he was astounded by the amount of reasons wonwoo put forth in why they couldn't continue their long distance relationship. logical side of mingyu could never blame wonwoo, it takes strong will power to manage a long distance relationship and not everyone could do it. yet, mingyu's heart couldn't take it. he spent hours without sleep, in denial.
