On a crisp fall morning, the birds had appeared to sing the lovely song the man was all too familiar of. He took in the morning dew as he studied the city around him. the brunette lunged two heavy boxes in front of the bricked townhouse. He hadn't eaten breakfast nor did he appear to have slept, his under eyes visible on his freckled face. He didn't seem to mind though, he wore the brightest smile, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"Keep it moving Horan!" came a giggling voice, behind the big moving truck. She appeared then, with raven black hair that came to her shoulders, and piercing blue eyes that made his heart race whenever she stood a little too close, or when he caught her looking at him.
He drove Hannah all the way to Tennessee that night. It would have felt like the other dozens of road trips they had planned together, but this was different. Their entire lives stretched out before them, the truck's headlights illuminating the country roads in front of them, far away from their hometowns.
"You should stop and smell the roses Gribbins" Niall replied with a sly smirk, gesturing at the white roses planted on each windowsill. "I don't get why you want to move in all at once," he continued, picking up the boxes and continuing up the steps. "You can do it day by day, there's no rushing it."
Hannah rolled her eyes, pushing him playfully, "I want everything to go as smoothly as possible. I'm finally here! This is all I've ever dreamed of and I don't want it to slip away from my fingertips." Her voice grew quiet as she finished, her heels digging at the wet grass beneath her as she studied her feet.
Niall set the boxes down on the porch and turned to her, his eyes studying the trace of her lips. He wanted to so desperately lift her face up by his finger but he didn't dare. "You know this is all because of you right? You're here because you made it happen. Look around you, without your talent or all your hardwork, this would have never happened. You're going to be the best art director this town has ever seen bubs." he said, using the nickname he lovingly coined her, ever since they became best friends some 6 years ago.
Hannah smiled softly at him, tugging her cardigan around her and shivering from the morning air. "And living in the same city as you won't hurt either".
Niall hid his flushed face as she took out her keys from inside her pocket, opening her front door. The rest of her life waiting for her inside.
