Mew was in the conference room. The representatives from Arthes Industry were explaining the proposal from their security team. Mew unfortunately was not even listening. His mind was elsewhere. 2 weeks had passed after the incident at his theme park. After Zee and Saint began bawling begging him not to hurt their brother, Gulf; Mew contacted Mild and escorted all of them back to a room. The children were inconsolable at first. Then Gulf informed Mild that they loved chocolates and Mild brought a basket full of chocolates of various kinds.Zee stopped crying first and gobbled up the chocolates. Saint needed a little more tender loving care from Gulf. His brother hugged him and coaxed him when finally he too took a peek at the chocolates. Zee picked up a piece of chocolate and unwrapped it. Then he gave it to Saint. Saint gladly took the chocolate from Zee. Gulf smiled looking at his brothers. All the while Mew was looking at Gulf. He could not describe his feelings at that time. These children needed his protection but how could he protect them? He was furious but he knew showing it to these children was not the way.
"Gulf?" He called his muse.
"We need to talk." Mew's voice was grave. They walked to the other side of the huge room while the children were busy dividing the chocolate stash they had.
"Tell me Gulf. What happened?" It broke Mew's heart looking at the terrified Gulf.
"I... I ... fell down the stairs."
"Don't lie to me please." Mew begged.
"I fell down the stairs."
"Stop it Gulf! Let me help you."
"Nobody can help us Mew." Gulf said sadly.
"I CAN!"
"No... You don't know anything." Gulf smiled sadly.
"Then tell me!" Mew insisted.
"Stay away from us Mr Suppasit. I beg you." Gulf insisted.
"Let me help you Gulf. You know who I am and what I am capable of." Mew begged.
"I don't want anyone else to get hurt." Gulf whispered.
"And it's okay that YOU or the boys get hurt?" Mew was fuming.
"I can't protect everyone. I just can't '." Gulf smiled sadly.
"I can protect you. YOU know I can."
"Mew... you already have done so much for us." Gulf vowed.
"You don't know how much this means to me. Thank you taking care of us today. But you need to stay away from us." Gulf continued.
"Don't push me away Gulf. Let me help you."
"It's okay Old Man..." Gulf grinned through his unshed tears.
"Thank you for everything."Mew was brought back to reality. His Vice President of Finance was presenting. Mild stared at him knowingly. He knew how much Mew had suffered these few weeks. Mild helped Mew by handling most of his office responsibilities. Gulf still walked back and forth to school every day. He would stop at the traffic light and he would look up to his building. There was sadness about him the Mew could not understand. How could he help his muse and the children? The meeting was about to end when the sky poured. Lightning flashed outside. Mew stared at the dark sky.
The meeting ended just before 6 in the evening. After that Mew went back to office to finish some work. He did not realise the time until his stomach protested in hunger. Mew looked at his wristwatch and sighed. He was supposed have dinner with with siblings but he declined. Now he wished that he had gone back to his mother's and was eating dinner instead of mopping around his office. Mew gathered his tablet, his cellphone and informed his chauffeur that he was going back home. He was in the elevator when he received a call. It was from Mr Angsanan.
"Sir?" Mr Angsanan sounded anxious.
"Yes Mr Angsanan."
"Something terrible happened at Mr Kanawut's house." Mew felt as if his heart stopped beating.
"Someone had been murdered..."
"Who??!!"
"Mr Kanawaut's mother." Mew's hand shook.
"How about Gulf? The children?"
"Mr Kanawut is seriously injured and now he's on his way to the hospital. One child broke his arm. The other escaped with bruises. We are sorry that we didn't call you earlier, we wanted to make sure Mr Kanawut and the children were safe." Mew could not believe his ears.
"Which hospital?" His voice was hoarse.
"King Dusit General Hospital." Mr Angsanan informed.
"What actually happened?"
"We don't know Sir. Our people were outside when Mr Kanawut ran from the house with the children. We stopped them to help. Then we noticed Mr Kanawut had a stab wound in his abdomen while one of the younger children's arm was badly bruising."
"We contacted the police and we sent Mr Kanawut and the children to the hospital first."
"One of our men stayed behind to explain to the police. That's when we knew that the mother had been murdered."
"Sir... The father accuses Mr Kanawut."
'That son of a bitch!" Mew yelled into the phone.
"He informed the police that his son had always been problematic."
"He's lying. How could he explain the child's broken arm?"
"The child was protecting the mother from Mr Kanawut."
"He is a dead man!"
"What should we do next Sir?"
"Put our man on the father. I don't trust him."
"Understood."
"Thank you Mr Angsanan."
