Rex was starting to go crazy. And not because his mother locked in a small white room. But because of what she had whispered to him before she made her guards drag him away. It was in his head now, those haunting words his mother had said. They couldn't be true, he thought to himself. But it all made sense. Why she was locked away all these years. But what didn't make sense was why she was kept alive and safe.

She isn't human, his mother had said. She's a weapon of mass destruction and if she gets out I'll kill her. And then I'll kill you too.

Rex heard those words over and over again in his head. He knew that his mother was a b*tch but he didn't know she'd go so far. She was willing to whatever it took to keep her secret, even if it meant locking her own son away. But he wasn't going to sit here and rot away. No he had to think of a plan to get out. For Zen.

He wondered what his mother said to her, what lie she could have possibly told Zen. Probably that he was sick and needed serious help. It sounded like something she'd say. In fact, it was the only thing she'd ever said about his father. That he was sick and he had to go away. Could she have...no she wouldn't do that, Rex thought.

Right now Rex paced around his tiny white room. It had been two weeks since she'd locked him away and the only reason he knew that was because he was keeping track of the days inside his head. He was thinking and walking. It was all he did besides eat. Was this what life was like for Zen? No wonder she was so lonely.

But Rex couldn't think of a way out. No one came in and the only way he got food was through the slot in the door. He never left the room, which was a bed and a toilet. So Rex thought and thought but there seemed to be no way to get back to Zen.

And to top it off, people in the building were dying. Random guards and even a few scientists. Rex had figured it out with the alarms blaring day by day. He knew security was at an all time high. So who the f*ck was killing these guys and why hadn't they figured it out yet? Why was it so hard?

Rex knew he had to get out. What if the killers were targeting Zen? He had to keep her safe. Right now she was everything he could think of and they had never done more than talk. He wasn't sure what the f*ck they were, but he could never be just her friend. Not now, not ever.

Rex knew time was passing by with each day. No word or sight from his mother and he was fine with that. But he needed a plan. He had even thought about stabbing a guard with the silverware they gave him, but that wouldn't get him far. It wouldn't get him out the door.

No he needed a way to get the door open. And just like that a plan started to form inside his head. He wasn't Jane Hill's son for nothing. Rex thought it over and knew there was a slight chance, but it could work. He could escape and save Zen all at the same time.

But this plan would require some time to earn a little bit of trust with his guard. He didn't know if he had much time, but he knew he had to at least try.

The first part of the plan was to befriend the guard standing outside his door at night. It was the same guard everynight, and Rex knew he was a friendly guy by the way he talked to the other guards between shifts. So at first Rex started to stand by the door and talk.

For days there was no answer back and just when Rex was about to give up, the guy started talking to him. It was small replies at first. Like Rex telling him simple things about Jane or talking about how he missed his girlfriend. Rex was playing the part and he did well. The guards name was George and he had a wife with two kids.

Rex knew he had to try and earn George's trust more. He started to tell him sob stories about Jane trying to appeal to George. Surprisingly it worked. He was more than willing to talk sh*t about his boss with her son everynight. Rex knew he was getting him where he wanted him but for the final part of his plan, he had to find a way to get him to open the door.
