Finally Sixteen

5 Years Later

Tomorrow was the day. The day I finally turned sixteen. We were going to the lake for my birthday and I honestly couldn't be happier. I wasn't a party type of person, so getting a huge sweet sixteen thing was not on my wish list.

We finally got to the hotel after four terrible hours of driving and we were getting settled when I turned to my dad and asked, "Hey Dad could I go meet Chrissy down at the beach?" He thinks for a second before nodding and I start bouncing on the balls of my feet while I pull out my bathing suit, some pjs, and an extra change of clothes. He stops me from leaving and says, "Just be back at one tomorrow ok?" I nod and run out the door, to the elevator, and down to the beach.

As soon as I got there I saw Chrissy helping her Mom unload some tents out of the back of their truck. When I got down to the car Chrissy embraced me almost immediately. Afterwards she turned to her mom and we started begging, "Could we please go down to the water?" Her mom nodded and we sprinted down to the shore.

Chrissy and I spent the afternoon tanning and going for the occasional swim before we walked back to help her mom set up the tents. Eventually, we had two tents set up, and we could finally get some sleep.

I woke up early from excitement. I whisper to myself, "I'm sixteen today." I said it a little to loud because I accidently woke up Chrissy. She yawned as she said, "Happy birthday Skylar." She sits up and turns around, grabbing something from under her pillow. "I thought you would want to start your chain of presents now, so here." she hands me a black box with a red sting wrapped around it. I untie the bow and take the lid off. It was a beautiful blue beaded bracelet with brown leather cord holding them together. She knocks me out of my thoughts when she starts to talk again. "I've seen you eyeing it for weeks. I figured you had to have it." I smiled brightly and I hugged her. "Thank you so much. I love it." I slip it on my wrist and we get dressed and start to walk around the tree line. "I've heard of this one tree," Chrissy starts "where the flowers that bloom on it are magical." She seemed like she was fully caught in belief. "Can we go check it out?" I didn't want to dissapoint her so I agreed, "Of course." and we started walking.

About ten minutes later we finally got to a huge tree with roots tumbling in and out of the ground and leaves that covered a twenty or thirty foot diameter. "This is it" Chrissy walks forward and starts to climb when, out of the corner of my eye, I see something fly past us. I shrug it off thinking, "It's just a bird" and start to walk up to the tree when Chrissy jumps down and says, "I'm so sorry." I see her glance behind me and fix her gaze on something, so I turn around. As soon as I do, the memory of my eleventh birthday comes flooding into my mind, but my thoughts are cut off by the all to familiar, british tone. "Hello Skylar" Peter smiles at me. I remember the deal we made five years ago and start to back away. I trip over a tree root, but that doesn't stop me from getting up and starting to run away. Although, I am stopped by vines wrapping around my legs and pulling me towards Pan. "Chrissy! Help me!" I yell before Pan says, "Sorry to pull you away from everything, but we had a deal." He smirks and that's the last thing I see before I black out.
