T H I R T Y - T H R E E

The big flat-screen turned on and showed a white room. I felt a mixture of anxiety and excitement, as I heard someone moving int the screen. It sounded as if they were moving the camera as the picture was being adjusted. The person stared coughing and then they came forward. My heart almost tore apart, when I saw his partially beat-up face. His demeanor was a self-assured and manly as ever. My eyes started examining his face. A long bruise made its way from his left cheek to his sharp-edged jawline. His black curls were disheveled and I felt the strong urge t run my hair through his locks. My heart dropped when he started moving his lips:

"Yasmine, by the time you will find this tape I will probably already be dead. I am so sorry, mi amore. But sooner or later we both knew it would happen. In such a case, I have set my people up to keep you safe. There always will be bodyguards within a radius of three miles around you. No worry gattina, they won't be bothering you. Also, I have left all my money to you, so there won't be any financial worries. I know you would do a great job sitting in my CEO seat." A small tear started rolling from his eye. Something I have never seen him do before. I felt my heart cry. I just wanted to hold him in my hands and kiss him for the last time. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something right behind him laying on the ground. It looked like a brown paper with a red tag. It seemed familiar, I have seen it when I visited him during his work always laying on the table, but didn't give it much thought.

"Gattina. I don't have much time left. But please, for your own sake my ambitious, stubborn love. Forget me. Meet someone new, start a new life a new family. Please. I wan you happy. Move on. For me."

The screen started twitching and went off. As did my mind. I just continued to sit on my chair and spin around in it for a few minutes, while thinking about what I just saw. Why did he say that I should go looking for him? Does it mean he's still alive? Otherwise, why would he have added this? But it also would be hypocritical since he said that he would be dead at this point.

Then I realized what I have seen in the background of the video. I stopped the spinning chair by ramming the heel of my Louboutins into the floor. Hastily I walked over to the conference table at the right-hand side of the room, where I knew Alessandro all his meetings. I swear to god I need to find this thing. I started looking at all the papers scattered on his table. All his stuff just recently was brought here and was disorganized, so I had a harder time looking for what I was searching for. I kneeled down and opened the drawer underneath the table. I contained several neatly arranged brown folders, which now were brutally abused by me. Bingo, there was what I saw behind Alexandros. As if I was holding for my dear life I pressed the file with the red tag to my chest and ran over to the table. I took a deep breath and started praying that I found something that would prove Alessandro wasn't dead at all and that it all just was some weird Wattpad story. I slowly opened the brown paper folder. On the left side, it held a few photos of various places I couldn't classify. The right had a bundle of papers, a few of them in Ale's handwriting. I looked through them. To my luck, they showed the exact location of Alessandro's mother, just what I was hoping for. The mini-land map showcased Europe, Italy to be exact. My finger traced the red circle. Someone had marked a place somewhere in the south several times.

At this point, I was so desperate. I would even think that he was somewhere out there. I just had this feeling. And I trust myself, even when I sound silly. And what if I was wrong? At least I can rest knowing I tried finding the love of my life. Alessandro always finished things he started.

I heard someone knocking at the door and Brad slipped in.

"Hey, are you okay? I don't know how I could possibly helo you sis, so I made you biscuits", He gave me a cute smile and held the plate with warm, deliciously-smelling chocolate biscuits under my nose. I smiled and took two.

"Brad. I know this sounds stupid, but I really have this gut-feeling that Ale still is out there. A few seconds ago a big flat-screen just slid up and showed Ale talking about how he would be dead at this point and I should move on. I saw this file in the background and there may be the possibility that he may be there. I mean it always lay in his office, he even a few times took it to the gym-"

"Yasmine, we ain't in a Hollywood-movie you know that", Brad gave me a weird look and took a sip of his milk glass that appeared out of nowhere. I started scanning his face and noticed it to be stained from tears. Heavy dark circles framed his usually bright green eyes. Brad always has looked up to his brother as far as I can remember. I never knew his brother since I haven't had met him at the time, but he always spoke of him as some sort of hero that would beat my ass if I didn't buy him chili-cheese-fried in third-grade. I wrapped my arms around him and drew him closer to me.

"Ehm this robe is Fendi, I don't want it to be creased", I heard him nag, but decided to ignore him instead.

A few minuted later I felt his arms wrap around me too. He buried his face into my shoulder and started crying. Crying out all the pain he felt. I just stood there and listened to his tears. Water built up in my eyes and I watched as a tear fell onto the Fendi monogram underneath me.

After what felt like an hour he finally unwrapped me and looked me dead in the eye.

"Yasmine. I will help you, as dumb as the plan might be. Let's start by finding Max ."
