"Ugh!! He's not answering! WHY ISN'T HE ANSWERING!!" I ended another failed call and squeezed my cell as if I was going to break it! Dylan looked up at me disappointed, as if he knew that Gar wasn't coming. He slammed the tomatoes into the cart and folded his arms in anger.
"He's not coming is he? What did you do to my dad to make him hate me!" He started full on crying. I kneeled down to him and placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Listen Dill... I..." He snatched away from me. He's never done this. I felt horrible.
"He hates you... and that means that he hates me too! All you do is drink your 'special' water and fall all over the house! My dad used to love me... and now... he doesn't want me! He won't even talk to you! What did you do mom... WHAT DID YOU DO!"
"Now listen to me, I will NOT have this behavior from you! You are my son, and you will not talk to me in such a manor... ever! Do I make myself clear?" I looked into his eyes and saw a bit of fear and hurt. I just don't know what to do.
Dylan seems to worships the ground that Gar walks on, and I'm powerless to do anything that will mend broken bridges. Gar's not stupid to fall for my advances... but my baby needs him... and so do I.
"I will try my best Dill. Like I said before, Gar is a busy man. Maybe he's on an assignment and can't talk right now, but I promise that I'd get your dad home to you, even if it's for a little while... okay?"
Dylan stopped crying and gave me a hopeful smile. His smile gave me encouragement to try even harder for my marriage. I have so much at stake right now that I'm confident that I can sway Gar back into our lives!
I just have to come up with a fool-proof plan.
"Well it looks like dad can't join us tonight Dill but... why don't we do family night pizza when he's not too busy. Let's get you that steak hum?" I asked him and he agreed. I still made my grocery purchase for a later date, and we went to Texas Roadhouse, Dylan's favorite place for steak.
(A little while later)
Dill got in the car as I was placing the food in the back. I started to feel real creeped out! There was this guy, standing at the end of the parking lot, a few cars down, just staring at me. He wasn't a bad looking fella, but the look on his face had me concerned. I hurried with loading the car and rushed inside to leave.
"Mom... are you okay?" Dill must have noticed my nervous expression.
"Oh... yeah son... just thinking. Now hurry and get buckled. I'm ready to eat, and you know that place gets very packed pretty quickly.
"Yeah. Mom, can I have double fries this time instead of carrots?" Terra laughed at his comment. She knows that Gar's a vegetarian, but the one thing that he hated most of all... was carrots.
"Just like your dad huh. Sure, double french fries it is Dill."
"Cool thanks mom, and next time we can ask dad if he wants to come... right?"
"Sure we can. I'm sure he'll join us... next time. Now let's go." I pulled out of Capitol Supermarket on 11th St NW's parking lot. As I rounded to the left to make my way to the side street, heading towards to the main, the creepy guy still stood there looking me dead in the eyes.
I swallowed hard and proceeded with my drive. Of course I felt very uneasy because the way he glared at me made me question...
'Do I know him? I know I do a lot of crazy things when I'm having a good time, and if I'd slept with him... I'd remember. Not too many guys look that great at that age... hum.'
