Ryder came to again to see the anxious, worried faces of the doctors hovering above her. Of course, she wasn’t really in control, but Alyx hadn’t blacked her out when he took control this time. Apparently, he didn’t have to do that if he didn’t want to.
That made her mad. He didn’t have to knock her out the first time either, did he? Was it really necessary to put her through so much pain?
I can hear what you’re thinking, you know. And I know exactly who this Andrew Parsi is to you. I'm not happy that you kept that from me. But we’ll discuss that little secret of yours later.
It’s not a secret! She defended. Everyone but you knew who I was.
Humph… Be quiet. I’m going to have to talk to these fools.
No way! I’m not letting you take control of…
Darling, I already have. Now stop talking, or I will make you.
She fell silent, not wanting to have her consciousness blanked for the duration of Alyx’s conversation with the doctors. Best to know exactly what he was telling them.
“Miss Parsi? Can you hear us?” The head doctor shone a flashlight in her eyes, checking for a concussion or any other oddities.
Alyx made her nod her head.
Ryder would’ve glared at him if she could. It wasn’t as though she wouldn’t have nodded yes to that question. What did he think she was going to do? Lie to them about her ability to hear and function properly?
Jerk.
You like that word far too much.
“Can you speak to us?” The doctor asked. “If you can, we have some questions to ask you. We need to be sure that you’re all right.”
“I’m fine. Everything is normal.”
Oh, everything is far from normal, buddy. Ryder snapped at Alyx.
They’re not going to find that out though. Alyx snickered.
You’re insufferable sometimes. You know that?
Yup…
“I’ll be the judge of that, Agent Parsi. Because from your friend’s descriptions, it sounds as though you had a seizure. We have yet to determine the cause, however, because your brain seems to be fine.” The doctor announced. “Our scans couldn’t find anything.”
“That’s because I’m fine.” Alyx kept her voice patient.
If you want to fool my friends and family, you’d better get to know my mannerisms better. I’m not a patient person.
Well, I am.
Well, if you want them to know that something’s up, then by all means, continue being you in my body. She mocked.
He huffed. Very well.
“Just let me leave. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with me, and I’m tired of sitting in this hospital bed. If you want to keep me under observation, then do so. But let me out of here. Otherwise, I’m going to leave on my own.”
Better? Alyx asked.
She didn’t like his smug tone, but she had to admit he’d hit her usual tone exactly. Yes.
No need to be a sore loser, now, love.
Do you normally flirt with someone you’ve possessed? Ryder was in the mood to be irritating right now. Being possessed didn’t improve that mood.
