Chapter 15: Stay away from me

          Today has been really boring. After crying on Dave's shoulder and falling asleep I woke up and checked up on Sophia. I didn't visit her but I asked Teju and he said that they were still running tests on her. Weird.

        Since I woke up, I have been planning surprises because tomorrow is Shola and Shade's birthday. Surprises in the sense that we fixed borrowed hoses from the hotel's gardener and we planned to put a drug that makes you drowsy in Shade's drink. I know it's dangerous but we do it every year so that they both end up sleeping together which makes it easier to pour water on them in the morning.

       I actually bought real presents for them. I got Shade a new car she saw on a commercial on T.V. I also got Shola two gold chains he has been wanting to get since but for some odd reasons he always forget. I bought a doll house for the both of them because they always wanted it but Aunty Tope (their mom) refused to get them. I know it's useless but I just feel like doing it.

       I am really anxious though. We have a really big deal in three different countries that can make me a billionaire. I know it isn't legitimate but since I am stuck with this gang stuff, I have to deal with it.

       I see my phone blink. My wi-fi is on incase I get a call from any of my assistants. Fortunately it's all three of them calling me on Skype.

       "Okay before I actually have a heart attack was it a success" I ask. Mary Jane is my assistant in Nigeria here. Since we have branches in different countries, I have more than one assistant.

         I have a deal to smuggle weapons to an armed robbery gang in Warri, two mafia gangs in Italy and America. Something about a war or whatever.

         "Congratulations, it was successful." Mary Jane said. "Mr. Romano was impressed. It's already in your account" Valerie says. "Enjoy your loot, we've got a celebratory party to attend" Gabrielle giggles and they all hang up.

        I sprint to the pool side were everyone is. "What is it?" Shade asks. Everyone looks confused but Shola is grinning like an idiot. "You guys are seeing the latest billionaire in town" I say smiling widely. "OMG!" Karen says. She doesn't talk much. "Congrats" Chioma and Shade says at once. They start arguing about who said it first but I roll my eyes and turn to Shola. "How did you know?" I asked.

       "Firstly, I got the alert from the twelve different banks. I also got a message from Stan saying that our dear Timi was really furious when he heard. Looks like he hasn't been getting a lot of deals lately" Shola says. Well that explains why he wants me back urgently. Not because he loves me but because he wants a merger. Idiot.

      "Umm Princess I need to talk to you" I hear a not so happy Sophia say. "Sure"I say pulling her aside. "I was way out of line yesterday. I know I was drunk but that isn't an excuse. Seventy five percent of what I said is true though but I didn't have to insult you to prove a point. I don't still like you but as a compensation can we go clubbing tonight?" She asks.

        "Okay but I am staying sober" "I can't taste anything alcoholic so don't worry. Just enjoy yourself. It's all on me" She says.

        Believe it or not but there was a  time that I was good freinds with Sophia. I honestly don't know but she just started hating me and I started hating her but I think the old Sophia is there somewhere. "Okay" I say trying to understand her definition of enjoyment.

         "Where did she say she was going again?" I ask. I am really getting anxious. "Relax. She can take..." Teju says before my phone's ring tone interrupts. Why on earth haven't I changed it? I ask myself as I pick it.

        "Hello" "Dave, Princess is really drunk and she doesn't want to go back so please help me. She is making a big fool out of herself" I hear Sophia yell. "Okay just wait for me" I say and then I hang up.

        "Sorry guys but I have to go. Princess is really drunk" I say as I rush out. In less than ten minutes I am there only to see Princess singing black parade and almost stripping. This looks interesting. My subconscious tells me. Yeah right.

         "Darling can you come down" I ask her sweetly. After a lot of convincing she comes down. Since Sophia has already cashed out we go back to the hotel.

        "I want to drink till I pass out" she slurs. "Why don't we do something else. Like 20 questions" I ask. "20 questions huh. Your favourite colour is red, in a family of six, dated three girls but slept with only two, you hate Nigerian movies and you love guardisnd of the galaxy and cartoons, I am the third girl that you've slept with and what else?" She asks. I just look at her shocked. Did she read my fucking biography? Because I don't have one.

        "Nope. I did a background check on you and believe me you have a perfect life unlike me. I am not good for you Dave. I have done bad things and I am a monster. I'll just drag you down with me so as much as I hate to say this, please stay away from me" She says before dozing off.

        I am still shocked. Teju enters inside with a glass of water and pain relievers for Princess. "I know that I am intruding but why does Princess think that she is a monster" I ask. Teju just sighs "She's been through a lot of things and she blames herself for some of them. It's not in my place to tell you though" He says before shutting the door.
