Alecto had breakfast with Harry, Ron and Hermione the next morning and they were going over their new schedules, "Double Divination this afternoon," Harry groaned, looking down.
"You should have given it up like me, shouldn't you?" said Hermione briskly, buttering herself some toast. "Then you'd be doing something sensible like Arithmancy.""You're eating again, I notice," said Ron, watching Hermione adding liberal amounts of jam to her toast too.
"I've decided there are better ways of making a stand about elf rights," said Hermione haughtily.
"Yeah . . . and you were hungry," said Ron, grinning.
There was a sudden rustling noise above them, and a hundred owls came soaring through the open windows carrying the morning mail. Instinctively, Alecto looked up, she noticed Harry look up as well but to both their disappointment there were no letters from Sirius.Alecto sighed but her spirit was lifted slightly by the sight of Severus walking into the Hall.
She smiled softly and thought about the year, she hoped it would be a good one, the previous year had actually been wonderful to her, she met her father, her feelings for Severus were returned, he accepted her, although there had been a couple of small arguments, but it was still wonderful to her.Soon they had gone to their lessons and Alecto had Defense Against the dark arts with Professor Moody, Alecto could tell that the Weasley twins really admired this new professor because of how they spoke of him at lunch, he's dealt with the Dark Arts, one could see that from the scars on his face, or from his missing limb or even from his shrewd behavior.
His class was interesting nonetheless, although there had been one encounter, whilst halfway through his lesson his eyes fell upon Alecto, something flashed in them, it was a strange look, it was like he recognized her from somewhere, she didn't like it...
After classes they went to dinner, where Fred and George once again declared their admiration for the strange new professor, she also heard about the incident where he turned Malfoy into a ferret, maybe he wasn't all that bad, all that bothered her was that look he gave her.
Classes continued as usual the next day until they got to Defence Against the Dark Arts, Alecto was told that Moody demonstrated the three unforgivable curses to Harry's class but with a man like that she wasn't too surprised.
As they took their seats Moody walked in and almost immediately started his class, he started explaining about Death Eaters and how they used to confuse the Ministry and be able to get into it, that some worked undercover and others used the Imperius curse-"The Death Eaters also tried to recruit witches or wizards with special abilities, or who stood out in some things-" He explained, "For say someone who would be exceptionally good at magic or potions, or wizards with abilities like Werewolves or Animagus."
A Slytherin girl rose her hand, "Yes, Miss Adkins?"
"Did they ever go after people who didn't want to join them?" The girl asked, looking rather curious.
Moody nodded, "Of course, say now I wanted to build an army and I get the choice between somebody who's a werewolf and a normal wizard, which am I going to choose?"
"The werewolf?" The girl replied, slightly unsure.
"Yes and if that werewolf wouldn't want to join my army I'm still going to try and recruit him because what do I want? A strong army and thats why they went after these witches and wizards who were strong, they usually gave them a choose between 'join us or die'- and most people gave in."
There was a short silence in the room that seemed to last ages, this professor wasn't afraid to tell them things the way it was, no cutting corners and no sugar coating.
"But, professor- did the Death Eaters ever recruit children?"
Moody looked at the boy strangely, "Indeed, if someone were skilled enough they'd try and take them in and raise them to think like the Death Eaters and then eventually when they were old enough they would give them the dark mark and be called a true Death Eater." Alecto wasn't sure but she could've sworn Moody eyeing her whilst he said that.
After class she hurried to the dungeons and hoped she was correct in remembering Snape had a free lesson, she softly knocked on his classroom door and he opened, looking as if he himself were about to leave, he glanced around to see if anyone were close by. "Alecto."
Smiling lightly she looked at his black eyes and face that showed he was pleased to see her, "Hey, can we talk?" He nodded and allowed her inside and closed the door, "What do you want to speak to me about?" He said in his deep voice that unlike when he usually spoke didn't hold that harsh tone, but a more gentle one.
Alecto shrugged, "I just wanted to see you actually."
A soft smile appeared on Severus' lips, "It's good to know you miss me. How are your classes?"
"They're good, Professor Moody's really serious about the Dark Arts though."
Severus' face twisted slightly, Alecto knew he wanted the Defense against the dark arts job and he never got it thus far."Don't look like that, I like you as our Potions master, it suits you." She smiled at him, trying to lift his spirits slightly and she thought it worked by the sight of his scowl falling, she leaned against one of the student desks and sighed, "He gives me a strange feeling though, I'm not sure, but... he's odd. And he looks at me strangely."
Severus let out a slight chuckle, "The man is strange, and the fact that your last name is Black probably caught him a little off guard."
Alecto nodded, "Probably."

As she got to the Slytherin common room Alecto made her way up to her room which she shared with a couple of other girls, she caught a glimpse of her small black owl on her drawer next to her bed, which had a letter tied to it's foot and was way too big for the little scrawny creature to carry, "Hello you," Alecto sat on her bed and took the letter and opened it,
Alecto, I hope you're doing well, Im flying north due to Harry's scar starting to burn again, something might be terribly wrong, keep me informed of your dreams and whether you have any new memories,
Sirius
Alecto placed the letter ontop of her unmade emerald sheets, he was coming here? It was too dangerous, she had to write back,
Father, please stay safe, it's dangerous so please be careful, I'm doing well-
She thought a bit, was she doing well?
School's been good, classes are great, the Triwizard tournament was up soon, but the dreams- she could only remember a few night's dreams and it was those with the strange figures and people. She couldn't make out what anyone was saying or where they were or who they were... the continued writing,I haven't had any strange dreams or new memories, you have nothing to worry about with me, love you,
Alecto
