The brunette froze, her wide eyes staring directly at the ringing phone next to her. She took a deep breath and picked up - despite Robin's effort to stop her. "Where in the world are you?!" The angry man screamed down the phone, "You can't just go wandering off! Tell me where the hell you are or get your ass home within the next five minutes." Regina paused and took another deep breath, "I just went for a walk..I'll come home now, I'm sorry.. I should-" She was interrupted by a still fuming Leopold, "five minutes no later!" The call ended and trembling, Regina slowly stood up.
Without hesitation, Robin pulled Regina into another tight but gentle hug. "Please, check in with me when you can, I know I can't make you stay but if anything happens you can always come to me.." Robin continued, "This is a safe space.. remember that." Regina nodded, the only words she managed were 'thank you' and with that she left making her way home.
"I'm home.." Regina stated weakly. Leopold slurred from the living room, "Great, now get your ass in here! Where have you been?" Slowly the brunette made her way into the living room and sat down in the chair opposite him. "I went for a walk, sorry." Leopold nodded and stood up beginning to shout. Regina closed her eyes and waited as the pain began. It continued for an eternity, until suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her temple. And the world went silent.
Memories that Regina had long forgotten were playing in front of her, as though her life was a movie and she was watching it. Swinging over her home town's river on a dodgy rope swing accompanied by her three closest friends. Laughing, Regina was riding her trusted horse Celeste. She must only of been around 14 at the time but she was happy. Then her 18'th birthday party, surrounded by her loved ones. After that was a few more sentimental memories, then nothing.
Regina groaned as her eyes fluttered open, was she dead? Carefully she sat up, hand on head. The room around her was empty, the only noise coming from the flat screen tv on the wall. Quiet as a mouse, using the sofa for support, Regina stood up. Her vision was blurry as she retreated back to the floor. The pain that the brunette felt was too much. As her eyes began to close one last time, she spotted her phone a metre or so away.
Robin was at home, half asleep on the sofa. He'd messaged Regina however had received no reply. Part of him, wanted to go and check on her or at least call but he knew that wasn't in her best interests. He cared a lot about Regina. Finally, deciding to just go to bed, he checked his phone one last time. Nothing. Sighing heavily, he put his phone down and headed for his room. He got into bed and closed his eyes, wishing the bed would just swallow him whole. He felt helpless.
