Really Short Story
Sorta rexsoka...
Rex stood in the barracks on the 501st with his brothers. The live stream for Ahsoka's trial just finished, and the real person behind it all was Barriss Offee.
The room was silent. None of his brothers spoke. Rex sat down on his bunk and pulled out his two DC-17 hand blasters. He has only cleaned them 6 times. Why not again? It kept his stress low.
The clones hasn't heard a work of what happened to their commander. Why would they? The were really supposed to mingle with politics. But it gave them something to talk about. Plus, Ahsoka was in it so they had to listen.
Rex was always close to his commander. From the battle of Christophsis, Ahsoka had surprised him more and more with how she progressed with her training. She had won his trust long ago, saving him and his brothers day after day, battle after battle.
They even had time together outside of the battle field. Once, she took him, Fives, Echo and Kix to a small get away heist. She smuggled them on a small ship (because clones weren't allowed to travel to other planets unless associated with military reasons) and took them to Naboo. Anakin joined later. The set up camp next to a small lake far from the city.
They had never seen anything like it. The trees and hills so green. On Kamino, they grew up only seeing the stormy oceans and rarely blue sky's. War didn't have time for them to see the galaxy. But just these few moments, shown them more than they would have ever hoped to see.
Ahsoka showed them how to fish and hunt for their own food. It could have come in handy some day if separated from the group. Ahsoka knew this by heart due to the few years she spent on Shilli. Not to mention it was in her blood.
They told stories they had formed over the war and people they met. Some of Fives best pranks were told as well. Ahsoka spoke of stories from worlds light years away. There were copies in the Jedi Temple that she had read.
It truly was a weekend to remember. Rex and the others hoped she was brought back into the order, as Anakin told them that she was expelled.
"Rex! Captain!" One of his vod's yelled from the hallway opening the door. It was Tup. He comes to a stop at the doorway catching his breath. "Tup! What is it?" Rex asks walking forward to his younger brother.
"It's the commander! Ahsoka! She........." Tup started, but couldn't finish. "What? What is it shiny?!" Rex almost demanded. He had to know what happened to her.
"She...." He started. "She left....." Rex looked at him like he had just slapped him in the face. "What do you mean left?" He asked. "She left the order. She is no longer a Jedi Padawan." 'She left...' Rex thought. "Captain? Are you alright? I know you two were close....." he started.
"I'm, alright Tup." Rex lied. He turned to his brothers with a emotionless face. "Let the whole 501st know. Tell them that, Ahsoka is gone. Tell them this will not get into the way of the war. I know we all had something special with her. We shouldn't have let her get in the way....." he said. His brothers looked at him in a sad confused way.
Wouldn't he want to try and bring her back? Wouldn't he tell them to not give up hope? That they would see her again? No. Don't let her get into the way of the war. Just be normal soldiers. Expendable. Nothing. Everything Ahsoka didn't see them as.
Rex dismissed his brothers telling them 'Don't you have something to do other than sit in your bed?!' The others would have said something, but they knew Rex needed to be alone for a while. They all did. So they left.
'Why commander? Why leave us? Don't you want us? What made you so scared to run off? To leave the Jedi and never say goodbye?' Rex thought. 'You were the strongest amongst all of us. You were our motivation at four'o clock in the morning when the sepies ambushed us. You would tell us everything would be ok and we would get through it together.'
Rex sat there on the ground in a corner of the room. He never cries. But he did. He cried that Ahsoka left. He was important to all of them. Important to him.
A couple minutes pass and Rex doesn't move. He heard footprints outside the barracks and stop at the door. It opens and Rex doesn't even look to see who it is.
"Rex? Hey. I heard what happened and I-. Rex?" It was Cody. His closest brother. He could tell his voice out of a million clones. "Are you ok?" He asked. Rex didn't say anything. "Rex?" He asked again.
"She left......" Rex whispered. "She left us......"
'She left me.....'
