As leorio stirred awake, a warm smile crawled onto his face as he noticed the presence of the small blonde, whos head lay on his lap. Soft snores escaped his pinkish lips, and Leorio stretched a hand out, gently dragging his thumb across them.
So soft...
"Mm... Leorio?"
A crimson red painted itself over Leorios face as Kurapika lazily opened his eyes, Leorios thumb still on his lips. He too quickly turned red, and the black haired male finally took his thumb away.
"Uh... sorry"
Before Kurapika could speak, the nurses knocks on the door interrupted the males once again. A quiet sigh of relief escaped Leorios lips; at least the awkward atmosphere would dissolve. The nurse, like usual, asked several questions; how Leorio was feeling, if any memories had come back, etc. a ringtone interrupted her, and Kurapikas eyes widened as he realized that it was his phone that was ringing. Mouthing a quick sorry, he hustled out of the room, as grim thoughts started to form in his mind.
A phone call from work is never good... I hope they don't force me to go out. I can't leave Leorio behind.
Although Kurapika knew that it didn't matter what he wanted; if it was work, he'd have to go, no matter what. His brethren's eyes relied on it after all. Letting out a deep sigh, the blonde anxiously picked up the phone, praying to whoever there was that he wouldn't have to leave his best friend behind.
"Hello?"
"Kurapika, you need to come back to work! We have a lead on the Phantom Troupe!"
Melodys voice came through the phone, and that calmed Kurapika down a bit; at least, before he heard the 'phantom troupe' part. A scarlet tone crawled onto Kurapikas pupils, but several deep breathes helped him stop it.
"Melody, I can't."
"What do you mean you can't?! You're the only one who can touch any Phantom Troupe members! We need you Kurapika!"
"I- I have someone who needs me right now. He's always been there for me and I- I can't abandon him right when he needs me. I know I've always been selfish towards him, and that he didn't deserve all the stress he went through because of all the times I didn't reply to messages, or answer calls. And when I finally got to see him again, h- he only got hurt because of me! ITS ALL MY FAULT!"
Kurapika broke down, sobs escaping his lips as tears streamed down like waterfalls. Melody sat silent on the phone; she didn't know what to say.
"Kurapika... I understand. But please, call me back soon."
A ring came through the phone, indicating that the other line had hung up. Yet, kurapika was so far into a breakdown, that he hadn't even noticed, and had simply dropped the phone, grabbing at his chest as it felt like the air was being taken out of him. He felt himself shake, more violently than anyone during a breakdown shakes, but he completely ignored it as the sound of his sobs filled all the space around him.
"Kurapika!"
The blonde heard, his head shooting up and his eyes meeting with soft brown ones. Worry was the only word that could describe what was happening inside of them; and more tears streamed down Kurapikas cheeks as he realized that he was the cause.
"Kurapika, listen to me! Deep breathes, 3 seconds in, 4 seconds hold, 5 seconds release."
With a slight nod, Kurapika repeated the exercise Leorio instructed, his breathing becoming slightly calmer."Okay, now listen to me, alright? I don't know what happened, or why I've lost my memories, but I know for a fact it isn't your fault. I can tell you're very caring, and that you wouldn't let anything bad happen to anyone you care about. The fact that you've stayed with me for this long proves that fact. Please, attend work. I will be perfectly fine, you shouldn't put your duties off just for a fool like me."
He spoke softly, a little laugh escaping his lips as he said the last part. Kurapika, who was in shock at all of these kind words, wrapped his arms around the dark haired man, murmuring
"I'm sorry"
Over and over again. Leorio wrapped his arms around Kurapikas shaking figure as well, ushering him, as well as petting his back.
Somehow, this seems extremely familiar...
