"Tessa, Tessa, wake up."
I gasp and sit up straight. "Whoa, it's okay." I look over to see Beckett.
"Beckett." I say, reaching for him.
He meets me, and hugs me. "I know you probably don't want to hear this, but it's time for supper, and even if you didn't, we need to fix your sleep schedule."
I roll over and face him. "I don't think I should go."
"Why not?"
"I don't want to eat, or tell them about myself."
"You're going to have to do that eventually, just get it done now and get used to it. It'll happen again at Christmas."
"How interested are two 13 year olds going to be with me?" I ask.
"No, no them. They won't really care, but your grandmother will."
"My grandmother?" I ask.
"Yes. It's your dad's mom, and she's quite that character."
"I'm staying in bed."
"No, you're not." He says grabbing my blanket. "Go change."
"Fine." I say getting out of the bed. I grab clothes and go to the bathroom. I go back out to see Daylan talking to Beckett.
"Ready?" he asks.
"No." I say.
"It'll be fine. They're both so happy to have you back. Especially after when they couldn't find you since you weren't home."
I take a deep breath and look at what Declan is wearing. I'm relieved to see that he's wearing jeans and a button down shirt. I'm wearing jeans and a flowy blouse.
"We should head down; they'll already be waiting for us in the family dining room. It'll be like any other supper with any family."
"Will it?" I question.
"Yes, trust me, I've sat though some really fancy dinners, this is nothing."
"It'll be like anyone dinner, of you don't trust him, trust me." Beckett adds.
"How do you know."
"I've been eating with them lately, it'll be okay."
"Come on." Daylan says. I nod and follow both boys out of my room, shutting the door behind me.
I follow Daylan while Beckett goes to his room. Once we get to where going, I'm turned around again. We walk in and like Daylan said, they are already waiting for us. "I'm glad to see you two getting to know each other." She says getting up and smiling.
"Of course." Daylan says with a giant smile. "I don't want to miss out getting to know my little sister."
"Come and sit down, both of you." She says. I sit across from Daylan and see the food sitting out on the table. The queen looks around and smile. "All we need is the twins and we'd all be here."
I shift uncomfortable in my seat.
The king, my father. I take a deep breath. He is my father. He picks up a plate with meat on it, takes a piece and hands it to the queen, my mom. She takes some and hands it to me. I take the smallest piece that I can find, and hand the plate to Daylan. This goes on and I take a bit of everything that looks good. I've had some of this before, they were meals that I had at home. The other half looks unfamiliar.
They all start eating, and I take small bites, or push the food around on my plate. The bites I do take are pretty good, but I'm still not hungry.
