By Sunday night I'd gone through two boxes, not really wanting to. I'd rather do homework than go through boxes, so that's what I did.
Beckett is out with friends, which is good for him, but I'm stuck here. I want to get out of here for a bit, but I don't want to intrude on his life more than I already do.
I lay on my bed with Rocky, ignoring the fact that I hate everything. I have music on so I don't have to sit in silence. I don't want to go to school tomorrow.
There's a knock on my door and Daylan walks in as I sit up. "Did our parents want to eat supper because I already ate," I tell him.
"No, I just wanted to check on you. We're both during the day and you don't leave your room at night."
"I don't really have anywhere to go," I tell him.
"Where have you been so far in the palace?"
"The kitchen, here, where we eat, and the door to school."
"That's it?"
"Yes."
"We should change that."
"I'd rather get out of the palace for a little bit, I'm stuck here all the time."
A smile finds its way to his face. "Okay, let's go get ice cream."
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah, I use to sneak out and get ice cream all the time. You've been stuck here for a couple of weeks. I can only imagine how you feel."
"You snuck out?"
"Yeah, I'm next in line for the throne, they're a bit protective of me, but I didn't always want to go with a bodyguard."
"I can't, mine isn't here right now."
"This is a perfect time then, let's go."
"Okay," I say getting up and following him.
He leads me down some stairs. "This is the way to the garage. I have a car. We could probably get you one if you want."
"That would be nice."
"You could drive in the states, couldn't you?" he asks as we get in.
"Yeah, but I didn't much. Beckett typically drove me to school."
"Yeah, they planned for you two to be close."
"I think we got closer than they intended."
Daylan nods. "He mentioned it."
"He did?"
"Yeah, mom and dad know too. He figured it'd be better to tell them rather than let them find out."
I nod. "Yeah, that was probably a good call."
"So, I'm taking you to the best ice cream place in town." He says, pulling onto the street.
"Nice. Ice cream sounds good right now."
"Ice cream is good anytime and fixes almost everything."
"How do you get away with this? Don't people recognize you?"
"Yeah, but they assume security is near and don't try anything."
"Have you gotten in trouble? I mean, not in trouble with our parents, but like real trouble?" I ask.
"No, but trust me, I know I've been lucky."
