I wake up the next morning in Beckett's bed. That brings back memories. We stayed up late for Beckett, but it would have been about normal for me. I sit up and see Beckett sitting next to me typing.
"How are you feeling?" he asks.
"Fine, I guess," I say not feeling much of anything. "What are you working on.
"I'm switching between work and school. Neither are very interesting."
I lean back against the headboard and watching him.
"How did you sleep?"
"Surprisingly well."
"Interesting. Any idea why?"
"No, but I have a feeling that it has to do with you."
"What makes you say that?"
"Because the night it the hotel I just laid there and did nothing. I've actually slept here. You were around both times."
"As long as you're sleeping well." He goes back to his laptop.
I lay back down facing him. I continue to watch him until he decides to get up. "Go get dressed."
"Why? I'm comfortable."
He grabs my hand and pulls me out of bed. "Go get dressed, we're going to go get food."
"Okay, fine," I say leaving. I choose not to fight. I'm not hungry. I go to my room and change my shirt and leggings into a different shirt and leggings.
I leave my room as Beckett leaves his room. "We're going down to the kitchen, what do you want?" I don't say anything. "It's up to you Tessa."
He sighs and we start to the kitchen. "There's a surprise for you after you eat."
"What is it?"
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise."
"Oh, hello your highness, I didn't see you there. What can I help you with?" A woman says coming up to us and bowing.
"Hello, Martha, we've come down for some breakfast," Becket says noticing my discomfort.
I'm a princess and people bow to me. I should get used to it.
"Of course, what would you like to eat?"
Beckett looks at me, and when I don't say anything he answers for me. "Waffles please."
She nods and starts working on them right away. I follow Beckett to the island and sit next to him.
"Is there anything you need?" Becket asks.
"No, I don't think so."
"Okay, is there anything you want? Other than seeing Ava. You will see her again, but other things need to happen first." I sigh. "But your things are on their way.
I nod. "What about a phone?"
"Something, other things need to happen first."
"I just want something normal in my life. Not everything that's happening." I mutter
"I know." He says. "But if everyone thinks you're missing and you turn up using social media, it would be weird."
"Why would it be weird. I'm not missing."
"It would look bad if the country didn't announce that you were alive and back."
"And?"
"And we're still working on security."
