The night was chillier than expected. Waking up before the sun, Opeli noticed that Elowen was asleep. She didn’t move an inch in her sleep it seemed. Still leaning on the tree trunk.  Posture unbroken. It was funny how she managed to look even a little more calm than how she was during the day. Opeli smiled at the thought of how funny it was. She got close and patted Elowen’s head for a brief seconds. The flapping of her tail to the ground startled Opeli. “Waking up to an angry Elowen wouldn’t be nice.” she thought and left Elowen alone. The sunlight was piercing through the tree trunks, shining down to the ground in small, inordinate specks. Settling on a boulder Opeli watched the view of the forest. She loved the rare, calm scenery like that. She turned her head to the side listening the callings of a fluffy crowtit. Opeli softly giggled “Hello there you fluffball.” The bird enthusiastically chirped back. A loud sneeze behind her drew the little bird away. “Oh, good morning Elowen!” Opeli said cheerfully as she turned around. The specks of light were hitting Elowen’s messy blonde hair. Her blue eyes seemed even more piercing when the light hit them from the side. Elowen didn’t say a word but only frowned. “You looked relaxed when you were sleeping so I didn’t want to bother you.” Opeli said as her feet dangled from the stone she was sitting on. “But you did bother me. Let me make this clear,” Elowen raised her sword to Opeli’s throat. “Never ever touch me again. Nobody can ever touch me. I will cut your hand off and feed it to animals.” Elowen looked quite pissed. Ears on the back of her head, tail straight. “Calm down. It was just one pat on your head. Why are you this uptight?” Opeli asked. “Why? You ridiculed me! Do I look like a damn pet to you?” The sword threatened to go deeper into her throat as Elowen pressed it closer. Opeli only puffed her cheeks in response. “Hmph! Fine. Just so you know, you look better when you are not frowning.” was all she and left Elowen on her own as she jumped off the rock. She could swear she saw her features softened a little while she walked away.
Opeli had Sage’s sword on her for a while. It was ridiculously heavy, yet she didn’t trust Elowen the least bit when it came to the relic. Observing the sword, dragging her fingers on the steel she couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like to have sword fights like the ones in movies and books. Holding it from the handle, Opeli tried swishing with the sword. After one swish, she accidentally got it stuck on a nearby tree. Trying to pull it out the tree shook a little dropping a walnut to her head. “Pfft-” the sound made Opeli to turn around as peachey red colors crept up her cheeks out of embarrassment. “You really thought you could swing that sword. To be rude, it’s twice your size and most likely heavier than you.” Elowen said in between her laughter. “If you want to use a sword you must choose a sword that would incorporate your height and weight. Or else the sword will swing you around. Next time get on a stable standing position and hold with one arm. This is not the type of sword for you.” Elowen said while leaning on one of the trees. Opeli sunk down, pulled her knees to her chest, and wrapped her puffy cloak around herself. She looked like a mushroom. “I know so little. It is only natural.” Opeli muttered. Elowen stood there, silent. After a few minutes Elowen walked away.
Another sneeze erupted from Elowen as the continued her training. She had no one to spar with, or no one to successfully duel her with swords. She sniffed, wiping her nose with her hand. Elowen kept on training until it felt chilly enough that her cloak no longer provided her warmth. Her body was aching regardless of not training as much. She lost more and more energy as she made her way back to the camp. On her way, a snarling voice of a beast got her attention.
Opeli was still curled up like a mushroom. She was pretty salty after what Elowen had said. She did give her advice, but it was not like she had a sword to train with. A snarling voice broke Opeli from her from her thoughts. “Elowen?” she softly asked and turned her head. Vibrant yellow eyes pierced through her and Opeli jumped back as a reflex. The beast emerged from the bush walking closer to Opeli whose back now was against a tree. The beast bared its teeth at Opeli and all she could do was closing her eyes and turning her head away. However the attack never came and instead, the beast roared in pain lying lifeless on the dirt. Slowly opening her eyes, Opeli saw Elowen above the beast with blood on her sword. She sloppily stood up. Even trembed a little. Opeli rushed to Elowen’s side. As soon as she was near Elowen collapsed, shivering. “Oh no. No no no no no this is not good. You’re burning up!” crushed under the weight of Elowen’s body Opeli dragged Elowen to the riverside. Resting Elowen’s back on a tree trunk, she took off her cloak and got handful of cold water pouring it over Elowen’s arms, getting her neck and face wet. “Cold.” Elowen was barely audible. Trying to push Opeli’s hand away but barely being able to lift her hand up. Elowens eyes were starting to get heavy when Opeli shook her. “No. No sleeping when your fever is this high.” she harshly said. After a few minutes, Opeli took her to the campfire and laid her down. Elowen’s vision got fuzzier than it was before. “You can sleep now. Good night.” she heard a soft voice say before drifting into slumber.
