I flicker my eyes open and make contact with the morning sunlight peeking through the blinds. The warm sunlight gently caressing the right side of my face. I turn over and see black painted walls and dark grey sheets. I sit my body up at high-speed and scan over the room as I sit on the familiar bed.
Deja freaking vu.
The door swings open and Ray walks in with a bag of Doritos.
"Doritos at 8:00 in the morning?" I ask with a raised eyebrow
"Breakfast of champions baby." he says cooley, sending a wink over to me.
"I prefer-"
"Hot Cheetos? Yeah I know." he says with a beam. Throwing me a small bag of Hot Cheetos that I smoothly catch.
"So," he speaks, walking over to his black leather chair and sitting on it. Lifting his feet up and resting them on his nearby table.
"Did someone enjoy themselves last night?" he mocks.
"Well I was, until you threw a water bottle to my freakin head." I grit with a fake smile.
He tilts his head back and let's out a deep gorgeous laugh that sounded a lot like Christmas. If that even makes sense.
"Thank me later." he says giving me a wink.
"Why'd your bring me here?" I ask. Running a hand through my hair that's still carries the light smell of lake water. Gross.
"I wanted some of those dancing lessons." he says wiggling his eyebrows.
I'm never going to live this down with him.
I throw myself back into the bed and let out a groan.
Which brings out a laugh from him.
I lift myself up on my elbows and look straight at him narrowing my eyes.
"I hate you." I mutter.
He send me a kiss and places a Dorito in his mouth. He is having the time of his life with this.
"I'm leaving." I say going to lift the sheets off my body to get out of bed.
My eyes widen and shock takes over my face. Where the hell are my clothes?! I quickly tighten the sheets back around my body and look over at Ray who lifted an eyebrow.
"Woah, babe, don't try and seduce me too fast." he says laughing and continuing to munch on his Doritos.
I hope he chokes on those damn Doritos.
"Ray. Where the hell. Are my clothes?" I speak.
"How am I supposed to know?" he looks at me amused.
"What do you mean?"
"When I brought brought you in, you were fully clothed." he says.
I then remembered that I took off my clothes during my sleep due to the feeling of in-comfort sleeping with half wet clothes brought on me. I look around the room seeing if I spot my clothes anywhere, because all I remember is randomly throwing it around the dark room late at night.
"This what you're looking for?" I look up at Ray who's holding up my bra with a smirk.
"Give it to me."
"Mhmm not sure I want to." he says twirling it around his finger.
"You're getting your nasty Dorito fingers all over it."
"Good, i'll be giving your boobs a little snack on the way home." he smiles.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
"Fine keep it, I don't need it." I say finding my shirt nearby and reaching for it. Grabbing it and pulling it over my body and over with the bed sheets. I then pulled the bed sheets from underneath once my shirt was fully on.
"Damn, I was really hoping you weren't going to be good at that." he frowns.
"Perverts like you give me a lot of practice." I say.
"I'm not a perv babe, I just appreciate the woman body. A lot." he wiggles his eyebrow up and down.
"Call it what you want perv." I say.
"Except, most perverts are 60 year old men spying on 20 year old women." he says. "I'm good looking and young, which means I get a free pass. In fact, I even have girls begging me to get perverted with them." he smirks. Throwing a Dorito into his mouth.
"There is nothing okay with what you just said." I tell him while I release a loose laugh.
I then spot my underwear tangled up in the sheets at the lower half of the bed. I quickly reach for them before Ray's creepy cheese fingers even thinks about grabbing them.
I hold up my underwear and give him a victory smirk.
"Guess you won't be needing these then?" He holds up my shorts.
ugh that bastard. How?!
"Ray Prescott, please." I say sticking out my bottom lip.
He stares down at my lips and begins to bite down on his. He really shouldn't do that...
"What do I get for them?" he ask with a smirk.
"You get to be called nice?" my bargain filled with uncertainty.
He lifts me a thinkable brow.
"I want something else."
"And what is it that you have in mind?" I ask rolling my eyes.
"Meet me at midnight. I'll tell you then." he says, throwing me my shorts.
I catch them and slip them on. I walk over to Ray's bathroom and grab an extra toothbrush under the sink and use it to brush my teeth. Knowing my way around from the many times I was in this room last summer. Not forgetting one.
"What about my bra? Do I get that back?" I ask taking the tooth brush out of my mouth and crossing one arm over my chest.
"Nah, I think i'll hold on to this a while longer." he says waving it around.
"See? I told you you're a perv. What are you even going to do with it?" I ask.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm gonna wear it." he says placing my bra on his chest.
I hold in my laugh and finish brushing my teeth. I rinse my mouth and once i'm done I run out and make a quick lance at him, trying to snatch my bra out of his hands. But i'm too slow. I end up tripping over his foot and landing in between his legs. He traps me in between them making it hard for me to move. He lifts my bra high up above his head and I try reaching it with my arm.
"Just give it." I force my arm to reach higher but i'm not even close. I let out a huff in frustration.
I feel Ray's fingers on my chin. They're gentle yet his grip is tight enough that he pulls my head down slowly to look at him. I look down at Ray smirking up at me. My heart flutters lightly. I want slap him yet I have the urge to want to place my lips on his just for old times sake. He notices as I state at him and his smirk disappears. His eyes bore into mine and our breathes get heavier. Mixing together in the little 4 inch gap between our chests. A knock on the door rips us apart and he releases the grip on our entangled legs. I move away and sit down on the bed while he gets up and opens the door. Amber walks in and smiles when she sees me.
She's not surprised i'm here, which means she knows everything. Humiliation at its finest.
"Morning hun. I brought you a towel and some clean clothes. I figured you might want to take a quick shower." she says handing me a neatly folded pile that smelled like fresh laundry.
"Thank you so much Amber, I actually need a shower right about now." I say. Tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"You can go ahead and use the restroom here in Ray's room, i'm sure he won't mind." she says walking out. And giving me a smile before closing the door.
"If you want I'll be happy to join."
I flip him off and he lets out a laugh.
I walk over to his bathroom and turn on the shower.
"Is that a yes? Want me to start taking off my clothes?" he shouts over to me.
I slam the door shut in response.
I turn on the water, slip out of my clothes, and get into the shower. Relaxing to the warm water and washing away the acts of sorrow and emptiness that flooded over me last night making me create a night of humiliation and regret. Leaving it behind to go down the drain. Praying it doesn't come back to bite me in the future. Yet I know it will. And I can already hear the whispers of small town teenage gossip calling my name.

I start getting dressed into the fresh clean clothes Amber gave me. Some shorts and a t-shirt, that fit a tad bit loose. I brush my hair out and open the bathroom door once i'm done. I run the towel through my loose wet hair.
"You started without me." Ray turns over to me with a pout.
"Best shower ever." I state.
"I could change your mind."
"That's a bet i'm willing to make." I say chucking humorlessly.
Distant noises abruptly began coming from the hallway. "Baby!" a voice shouts.
The door swings open and Claire walks in. Her smile fading when she sees me.
uh oh. F*ck.
Ray's mouth opens to talk but nothing comes out.
I take a deep breath and chuckle. Trying to ease the awkward air.
"Hey Claire, how are you?" I ask with a smile.
"Good, what are you doing here?" she asks straight forward with furrowed brows. Definitely giving me the 'what are you doing in my boyfriends room?' kinda look I didn't even know existed. But it does I guess, cause she's using it.
"I was just using the shower really quick." I say my thumb pointing back to the bathroom. Smooth Raelynn, real smooth.
"Oh?" She looked at me confused and awaited my explanation.
I look over at Ray, trying my best to send him 'Help me out here buddy... ' signals while looking back at Claire giving her a nervous smile.
"Uh that's right, Amber had her over and she needed to get cleaned up." he speaks up. Walking over to her and engulfing her in a hug.
"Oh well okay..." she says.
I hurriedly gather my things and begin to walk out the room. Wanting to get the hell out of here. I halt in my steps and slowly walk back. Grabbing their attention.
"Sorry, forgot something." I shyly say. I grab the bag of Hot Cheetos Ray tossed me earlier and begin walking out again. Can't forget about the important things in life.
"I'll um, see you guys soon." I say rapidly, quickly walking out of the room. Ray looking at me the entire time.
I press my back against the wall and let out a deep breath. My heart sinking into my stomach at the image of her wrapped in his arms. I walk over to the front door opening it, and closing it behind me.

I walk into Alex's room and throw myself onto her bed.
"Where have you been?" she asks with a curious smile.
I turn my head over to her and make eye contact.
"You don't wanna know."
"mmmkay." she says giving my a knowing stare.
"I think i've got some ideas of where you were anyway." she finished. Giving me a toothy smile.
"How bad was I last night?" I ask her.
Her smile widens.
"Well let's just say you definitely put on a show." she says chuckling.
"Oh god." I mutter.
"You don't remember?" she questions.
"Most if it." I reply. "I wasn't drunk, I just, don't think I want to remember." I clarify.
"Can I say something?" she asks with all seriousness in her tone.
"I won't stop you."
"What you did back there, it was interesting." she breathes a chuckle.
"But-" "Striping down in front of a whole school.."
"That's not you." she finishes.
Last year and some years before that, I was in a pretty bad place. I partied a lot, I drank a lot, sometimes even smoked. Which im not a fan of really. I dated a guy I didn't really like, I had friends I didn't even like to hang out with. I did things i'd regret the next day. I didn't like that I did it, but i'd do it anyway. My mom got pretty tired of it as well, it's why she sent me here in the first place.
"Yeah...." I whisper.
"Moment of weakness I guess." I say breathing out a small smile.
"I know." she says giving me a sad smile. And she did. She did know.
Alex never judged me, not before and she wasn't doing it now. It's one of the things I loved about her. She understood. Not completely, but to her capacity.
"I'm here for you." she assures me. "Don't go slipping back into your old ways on me Lynn." she says throwing me a narrowing smile.
What she didn't know is that I never completely slipped out of my old ways. They were deep down still with me, and I fear that they always will be.
"Okay." I give her a thankful smile.
"You're not the only one." she adds, looking at me.
I give her a puzzled look.
"I've been hearing Ray's been struggling a bit, ever since you left." she says.
Back when Ray was just as screwed up as a tight nail in construction, we weren't much different. He'd spiral into a ritual of drinking and struggled with his addiction in dangerous silence. There wasn't a day where alcohol wasn't it his system and a cigarette wasn't in his mouth. He had laid off a bit but, his dirty habits had always been a little harder to battle for him.
I remembered the cigarette I caught him with a few nights ago and made me question if Alex was right. Then it made me question why.
"Can't you see it?" she questions with giddy.
I raise my eyebrow in question at her.
"You guys are better together." she exclaims.
"Alex-"
"I'm serious." she tells me with excitement in her eyes.
"Please don't play cupid. You're not very good at it. Plus your "bow and arrow" is made out of cotton balls and pencils, I literally can't even take you serious." I shake my head laughing. Making quotation marks with my fingers at 'bow and arrow'.
She narrows her eyes at me.
"I'm serous." she repeats.
