Raelynn's POV
Picture: Raelynn Mitchell
My vapormaxes hit the pavement as I opened the car door. Stepping out into the fresh wind blowing through the small town around me. Everything looking exactly how I left it. I fix my shades, pushing them closer to my face.
"Well bye, I guess." I look over to my mom who's texting away on the 5 inch screen in front of her.
"Bye Rae, if you need anything just give me a call. Be good for your aunt." she says looking over at me and immediately going back to texting.
"Aren't you going to come in and say hi?" I ask looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
"I'll give your aunt a call later."
"Ok take care, and don't text and drive. The statistics for fatal accidents on phone usage are high." I said grabbing my luggage from the car and closing the door.
"Oh Raelynn please, I don't text and drive." she says putting her phone down. "Ill try and call you tonight depending on how busy I am." she says moving her gear from park to drive.
"I'll try and answer depending on how busy I am." I say walking up the steps of the tan house I spent my whole summer in last year.
"You know I hate it when your smart with me." she yells out the window.
"You know, some parent are actually proud to have smart kids." I yell back.
"Behave Raelynn." she calls.
"I wouldn't know how to act any other way," I say, giving her a tight smile.
And with that she drives off.I raise my knuckles and place them on the blue door in front of me. Knocking three times before lowering them.
I hear chatter and footsteps. The sound of the lock turning followed by the turn of the doorknob comes next.
"Raelynn sweetie you're here!" my aunt Cassie greets with a bright smile.
"Hey aunt Cassie, how you been?" I say with a smile. Opening my arms to receive her welcoming hug.
"I've been good hun, how about you?"
"Yup i'm fine too." I say stepping into the house and laying my luggage on the floor.
"Rae!" my 7 year old cousin screams as she speeds over to me, slightly making me loose my balance but I quickly regain it.
"Dude, you so got taller while I was gone." I state embracing her in a hug.
"Really?!" she asks excitingly.
"Yes, totally."
"Raelynn freaking Mitchell." Alex, my 17 year old cousin says as she walks into the living room.
"Alexandra freaking Winters."
She comes over and gives me a hug.
"Come on, your suite is this way." she says picking up my luggage.
"Service has really picked up around here." I say, motioning to the luggage carrying Alex walking in front of me.
"Wait till you see your 5 star room."
We enter her room and she places my luggage onto the bed.
"Wow it's actually clean in here. I can see the floor, who knew you had one."
"My mom didn't let my out till I cleaned it. I think that's classified under child abuse."
My cousin was two things, messy as hell and dramatic as fuck. No more, no less.
I open the door in her room leading to a small balcony.
"Nothing has changed huh?" I ask, observing the scenery in front of me.
"A town this small never does." she answers.
"That's a fact." I state, still looking out at the the small houses and the few cars passing the main road."So...you ready to see him?" she questions me, wiggling her brows.
"See who?"
"You know who." not for a moment taking off her playful grin.
I do. I could bang my head 30 times and still remember.
"Not a chance." I say blowing out a bunch of stressful air just by the thought of seeing him.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I don't want to see him, at least not yet anyway. I still need some time."
"Well you have until tonight." she says.
I turn my head around so fast and my eyes go as big as a squeezed up owl.
"You're screwing with me right?"
"Nope." she says, adding an extra pop to the P.
"We're going over to Amber's house around 6:30. They're throwing Peter and Jan an anniversary party so i'm pretty sure he's going to be there."
"Again, you're screwing with my right?" "Yeah you totally are."
"I wish I was Rae. What's the big deal anyway?"
"Everything."
"Like?" she questions.
"Like, I don't want to talk about it right now if that's okay." I say going over to her beanbag and sitting down.
"Yeah that's okay." she says looking over at me with a small frown.Time passed faster than usual. Probably because I was begging it to go sloth mode and go 80 minutes an hour, hell I was even asking it to go backwards.
But all it seemed to do was laugh, mock at my begging and speed up.
It was 6 o'clock and I was laying on the couch munching on chips while watching the new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Enjoying the hell out of doing absolutely nothing.
"You do know we're leaving in 30 right?" Alex walks in with a hair brush in hand and begins to comb her dirty blonde strands of hair.
"I can't go." I say, placing a chip into my mouth.
"Why not?"
"Episode isn't over." I state humorless.
She gives me her best 'you've got to kidding me' look, only, i'm not kidding. Not one bit.
She walks over to the TV and hits the power button.
"It is now."
"I was watching that."
"Was. Now get up and get dressed." she commands.
"Alex, please, i'm begging you. Let me stay."
"No" she says coming over and grabbing the bag of chips.
She grabs my arm and pulls me towards her room.
"Here you can put this on." she says handing me a thin purple summer dress.
I blankly stare at her and burst out laughing.
"Yeah, no." I say, grabbing a pair of jeans instead.
"Fine. But only because i'm already dragging you to this thing." she says placing the purple dress back into her closet.I put on my vapormaxes from earlier and put on a forest green shirt with my jeans along with a belt. I lightly touch up my makeup and put my long hair up into a ponytail. I grab one of my sweaters and my phone.
"Ready."
Alex looks up and lightly grins.
"Well, not bad."
"Girls! Lets go!" Aunt Cassie yells out to us.
"C'mon. Lets go." Alex gets up and heads towards her door.
My heart pace quickens and my stomach churns in nervousness. I don't realize I make no movement and i'm standing still until Alex turns to me with furrowed brows.
"You really don't want to go huh?" "Is it because of him?" She asks sincerely.
My silence answers her question perfectly.
"I promise we'll leave early okay." She assures me.
It assures me just enough to get me following her out the door.
Leave early, whenever I want. Okay that can work.••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
A/N:
Hey guys sorry for the whole mess up with two different books. This one is just a new revised version. Wanted to make some changes to the other one because I wasn't really happy with what I had so just decided on starting over and rewriting some parts. Really hope this is it and don't change my mind. Haha.
Hope you enjoy.
