The Loved Luna

Chapter 3

Edward gawked at the girls back as she walked away. He tried to think over what had just happened, she said something about mind reading- and being able to kill us all with a flick of the wrist; but the way she stood her ground gave him a sense of pride. His mate was strong. His thoughts were interrupted by the man next to him shoving him forwards. With a growl Edward looked at him
"what the fuck leo?"
Leo smirked and wiggled his eyebrows "don't take it personally Eddie" mocking the mystery girl "Edward you are so whipped!!"
Edward just growled and faced Jake, who was by now standing, ready to run after Hayley.
"Where do you think you're going, she is a rogue and she isn't in your territory therefore she isn't your problem"
Jake rolled his eyes and took a step in the direction Hayley had run towards.
"She is my sister, she can't just run away" he growled at each word, showing no affection towards her.  Before anyone could stop him, Jake took off running after his sister.

Hayley slowed to a stop, the air was menacingly silent but to her, this meant peace and freedom. Something she had never truly felt. Hoping that the boys had lost her trail, she looked around a bit for a sheltered place to rest. There was a little alcove in the side of a fallen tree, which looked safe enough. She lay herself down and shut her eyes to think. She tried contacting her wolf.

-hey rose, you there?- she asked hesitantly

~I'm here, confused, and missing mate~

This made Hayley pause, mate? No no no she doesn't have a mate, that is what father always told her. She is a runt- she cringed at the word. Anyway, she didn't feel the instant undeniable devoted love for him, although it was obvious that they both felt something.

Hayley's POV

Edward- that is his name, and he is an alpha. It's impossible, how could he be my mate? Surely the moon goddess would pair an alpha up with someone powerful, and fit to be a luna. That's when it came to me. I am an alpha, through my veins run the blood of alpha and luna bane. I am a hybrid, but i don't have to be a runt.

My thoughts were cut short when i heard twig snap behind me. Without turning around she knew exactly who it was
"missing me already? Really brother i thought you would be to busy with alpha duties to worry about little old me"
A dry laugh came from his throat as he replied
"I think you know that I dont care about you. Oh, and father says he is done experimenting with you so I'm free to just kill you"
I turned around a saw a smirk plastered on his face. If only he knew, I spent weeks training my wolf and witch side. Preparing for the this fight.
As I opened my mouth to reply, i felt my wolf speaking up and i knew today was not the day. At the same time, Edward leapt out of the bushes and stood protectively in front of me. I glanced beside me as Leo's grey wolf sat beside me, shooting a wolfy grin my way. I couldn't stop the giggle that escaped and all eyes turned to me. Oops.

"okay little brother, today is not the day for us to fight. As disappointing as it is, you and I are both going to walk away from here unscathed, and we shall remain that way until the day of the fight comes around. Good luck gathering your army, you will need it. "
~hell yes girl we totally sassed him~ my wolf squealed in my head
Jake snarled and ran off, presumably to go home. As I turned I was greeted with Edward whose jaw was basically on the floor and Leo's wolf's eyes practically popping out of his head.
"why do you guys look so shocked?"  I asked hesitantly

Edward's POV
What did i just watch, my mate just made a very angry, very powerful alpha run from her. What is she talking about, she told him that they weren't going to fight today and... He listened!? Then she went on to tell him that he will need to gather an army before they fight. I mean she might be my mate but she is sure confident. After all she is still just a she-wolf. Right?
