Beep.

Beep.

Beep-

Clay opened the microwave and took out the plate full of leftover food. He sighed as he put it down on the counter and closed the microwave, trying to not make noise.

But too late. He was distracted by Twitter and now someone is probably awake, and no doubt about it. He heard a cough coming from the dark, not empty anymore, hallway. Then came out a man still in his pajamas.

"Dream, what the fuck?" Dave asked, stretching as he walked over to him. Clay laughed and grabbed a fork from the dishwasher, sticking it in his food and sitting down in front of it.

Dave went to the refrigerator and grabbed milk and a cereal box, then he grabbed a bowl from the cabinet.

"Am I not allowed to eat in your house?" Clay asked, he put the food in his mouth. As he chewed he could see Dave struggle to stay awake and do everything right. He couldn't even  focus on Clay.

Dave turned back to put the bowl down and grabbed the milk, "Of course! You guys eating in this house will cause rats and cockroaches." He laughed, Clay laughed too.

Dave poured the milk in first. Clay's nose scrunched up in disgust and Dave then poured the cereal. He stuck the spoon in and slid it right next to Clay, and right where he was going to sit.

"Ew." Was all Clay could manage when he saw this.

"Fuck, my head is so empty." Dave said, cursing at himself for putting the milk first. Clay laughed as Dave sat down.

Dave pushed the bowl away and put his head down. Clay looked at him and tapped his shoulder. Dave looked at him from the side.

"I'm so tired." He said. Clay pushed his plate away and put his head down too, except he was facing Dave.

"Then why did you get up from bed?" Clay asked, Dave turned to face him and now his cheek rested on the counter.

"I have to investigate the noise. Doesn't matter if it'll kill me or not." Dave said, he sat up and ate the cereal. Clay sat up too and slid his plate back to him, continuing to eat.

"So.. If it wasn't me and if it was an intruder, you would gladly die just to keep the house safe?" Clay asked, he could see Dave's eyes try to close but open as soon as he talked. "Or is it to keep your friends safe?"

Dave blinked blankly and turned his chair to look at him. But his eyes were staring to close.

"Hello?" Clay said, a bit louder than his usual tone. Dave's eyes shot open and he looked around, and then at Clay.

"Oh right," Dave yawned, "My house. I don't care about you guys at all." He chuckled, but Clay could hear how tired he was. It all showed in his voice and looks.

"You need sleep." Clay said, he got up and grabbed Dave by the arm. Dave got up with him, and Clay could feel Dave slouch as he stood up.

"No I don't. Sleep is for the weak!" Dave protested, Clay pulled him to the couch instead of going upstairs, that would be painful. He didn't bother pulling away from Clay, he was way too tired.

"You just said you were tired!" Clay said back, Dave sat out the couch and Clay sat right next to him. He turned on the TV and scrolled through the channels, then they both settled on a movie  they never saw before.

Dave's eyes closed and Clay could see how hard he tried to keep them open.

"Hey, stop fighting it. You need rest." Clay said, then Dave looked at him and rolled his eyes, but his eyes eventually shut. Clay snapped his fingers in front of Dave, and his eyes didn't open.
