Chapter 11:

I could see my breath in the air before me. It was cold. And I looked down to see I wasn't armed with the security of my cloak. I was wearing a very pale pink dress. There was a mask tied to my hand. It was one probably used for old parties and such.

It was very glittery and made of a precious gold colour. I heard loud laughter and I looked upwards as the world around me became a whir and it turned slightly as I lost my balance. I quickly gained equilibrium and ran towards the laughter.

What I saw was two people sitting at a table. They had freaky animal masks. They were sitting on chairs that hugged a table serving tea.

They seemed completely mad and creepy. Like an insane hurricane that you don't even know if it will strike your house or not.

They were both female. And the dying woods surrounding us added to the growing fear deep inside of me. They both stood up causing one of their chairs to topple backwards and the leaves below to crackle.

I stumbled backwards only to be knocked to the ground behind me. I looked down as I was wearing a hospital gown that was a pure white but my fall had caused me to damper it and get dirt on it. I heard twinkling music as I looked up and saw a girl jump-roping.

It looked as though she was fake or artificial. For her her face was white and looked as though someone had sloppily clawed it away. Her jump-roping was a steady and constant rhythm that had me mesmerized until I snapped back to reality.

I quickly struggled to my feet and opened the door to my right and closed it behind me. The twinkling music was louder and it looked as though I was in a child's room. There was a small chair and an odd looking white night stand.

A pillow knotted the bed together and read "Good Morning" although it did not make me feel pleasant. The room began to swim and an image of an old and beaten baby doll showed before me. As though it wanted to haunt me.

I splurged ahead and reached the door knob and thrusted myself out of the room and to the door across slamming it behind me.

My fear had reached farther up inside of me. I looked around the room with great curiosity. It looked as though it was a very old room. It was completely and irreplaceabley tarnished. With no possibilities of fixing.

The bed had been eaten away by maggots and other dusty creatures and something was written on the wall in a mixture of blood, dust, and soot.

"It was more fun in hell"

I had finally realized what this place was. It was no ordinary helping hospital. It was a mad house. Full of hell-sent demonic minds and other wicked little things.

It was a mental hospital. The loony bin.

I turned quickly losing my balance but quickly scrambling up and looking ahead to see the woods and a young girl before me. She wore a gas mask in which she held the opening for air in her left hand with three fingers around the grip and two fingers above the opening.

I watched as her fingers and her seemingly still body jumped to life as she wrapped her hand around the opening causing it to close.

I didn't move. I couldn't. All I saw was her twitching form weakening to the leaves below her.

I then gained new strength but it was defined mainly of fear and I sprang to her aid. I lifted the mask from her small face and revealed something shocking. It was me. As a young girl. I got up puzzled and turned around only to be face to face with the animal masks.

Each one seemed to be intricately made of paper machiei. I scrambled backwards and soon found I was suddenly standing near the edge of steps. I looked up to see I was standing outside the doors of a mental hospital.

I turned slowly to face a mass of people behind me. Thousands and thousands of children and teenagers. But all of their faces were scratched out. As if they were old photographs.

My eyes snapped open. Above me was a tight low ceiling. It seemed glass yet there was a black blanket above it.

I screamed loudly and banged on the glass until my fist smashed through it only to make a huge gash on my hand. I gave up after dirt started sprinkling into what I now knew was a coffin and I soon fell into a restless and dreamless sleep.
