November 29 - This morning I remembered that the wife of Lord Grey I, Maria my childhood friend gave me a box of black tea the day before I left for Kashmir. Dr. Neil and I had a cup each as we were talking about how we hadn't seen the sun since we came here; even though the snow had stopped. The sky was filled darker than usual clouds. The tea was so good we had to make more, I have to positively get the blend recipe when I go back to meet the Earl. Supposedly, the tea was a gift from a Chinese man, to Lord Grey; for it is said, and I have heard that the Chinese man's son was drowning in the London river and it was none other than Lord Grey's men that saved him.
Now to get down to the important part, the rivers! What about the rivers? Here's what, all of us in the party were talking yesterday about the amount of mountain trout in the rivers when one of the young lads, Robert; a smart man, hit upon something. The rivers were the key, the monster was using them as roads to get to one place and another with leaving any trail. It all makes sense now, the river 'Jehlum' and it's channels make almost all of the city and villages accessible. However, just knowing this fact doesn't give us any merit or way to get the damn thing back for what it did. Unless...
But ofcourse! If we trace back the river using the many sighting reports we may be able to pinpoint the demon's hiding place. This is ingenious! I have to tell the others. On second thought, what about the hiding place? What can we do, even if we make contact with it? The only thing we know that is close to a weakness is candles and torches. What good will holding a candle do against a creature that has killed perhaps a hundred men and women; or even more?
No, I mustn't be a cynic now, there must be something in those candles and torches that scares it, perhaps something that can kill it.
Fire!
