It has been more than two weeks I have been here in this gloomy place. That would mean you have been gone for almost 35 days in this horrible weather. I cannot figure out why you have left to go to face such a thing, there is no point in getting revenge for your friend Garret because what you are dealing with is not human or even an animal. I still cannot believe that something like that exists in this world and if it were not for this journal and the look in Dr. Neil’s eyes, I would have thought all of you had gone insane.
Normally you are so rational and logical but when it comes to others you become emotional and reckless; I reckon that is the best and the worst part about you. The weather has since cleared and the others are talking about leaving just as soon as they can. I sure wish you were here because you and the others with you are the only reason we are still hanging about in this place. But if it should happen that everyone decides to leave without you, then I and Dr. Neil have decided to stay back and wait for you.All this I say but I do realise the motive behind you venturing out there and trying to end this. You have always had that spirit of self-sacrifice so as much as it pains me as your fiancé, I will support you in this venture. This was partly the reason I decided to write in this journal, I realised why you started writing it, it was to make a record of the happenings of this place and your observations; for if it should happen that none of your party survive, the record would serve as a guide and tell those who come to look for you what to do and where to go.
Therefore, as I have decided to support this venture, I will write what I have heard and observed in the last two weeks. First, news came from distant villages of more killings and this time the killings were spread out; I say killings because blood was found at the place of the incidents. Second, no corpses or bodies were found of these individuals who are likely dead. Lastly, and this I have deduced myself being somewhat versed in the behaviour of animals that in some rare cases animals will hoard food in case of unfavourable weather or comparatively longer hibernation cycles. And reading the entries before this it is clear to me that what you are up against is no human. It may very well be saving those bodies as food for its hibernation period and the number of killings suggests that it will be gone for years if not decades. This is confirmed by the location you are travelling to, since the hibernation period is long the bodies will need to be preserved and temperatures on those mountains are less than minus twenty degrees.
So, if it is to be killed, we must do it now or else all those deaths will be in vain, and it will disappear for ages into some dark cave. I understand all this but how can I rest easy even If I understand? How could you be so reckless with your life when you have so many promises to keep?
