Jungkook was looking for the camo hoodie but couldn't find it anywhere. He knew it was always in the same place and it was odd that only now he couldn't find it. He had resorted to looking through the laundry even though he was certain it wouldn't be there and now he was going to be late.
Keyho had gone out for the day with work colleagues and had said something about a team building experience but he hadn't been listening because he needed to find the hoodie. He was starting to feel panicked because it wasn't anywhere he would expect to find it and couldn't ask Keyho because he doubted that she would know what he was talking about.
He left the house feeling like he'd been stabbed through the heart. He was sure he was being dramatic but the whole reason for finding the hoodie was to give it to Tae to wear so he could have his scent back on it. When he was in Korea he'd tell his parents he was going to the library or going to Keyho's but secretly he would be sitting in his closet, holding the hoodie to his face, usually crying. It was the only time he would be undisturbed and could allow himself to think about Tae, reliving memories that over the years became faded, which hurt him even more because everything involving Tae, felt like a figment of his imagination.
He still sat in his closet, even now, it was the one place he could hide from the world and it didn't matter which house he was in or even which country... a closet was a closet. The evening after he'd been to Tae's for the first time, he'd found himself telling Keyho that he was going out for a run and he'd actually sat in his closet for 2 hours, wearing the camo hoodie and staring at the TaTa contact in his phone. He knew he'd had the camo hoodie then and quite distinctly remembers wearing it so it must be somewhere, perhaps he had placed it somewhere super safe and had forgotten, his mind had been a little preoccupied recently.
Sunday's at work weren't really work days because the surgery was closed but it gave him the chance to write up some reports with the staff there in case he needed help. Some Sunday's they would run a training programme but otherwise it was a very quiet day.
He powered through his reports today, watching the clock and willing 1.30 to arrive. The doctor had informed him that he was closing completely at lunchtime so everyone could go home and enjoy the weather, since the sun was shining. He was about to text Tae to tell him but wanted it to be a surprise that they could spend a bit longer together, instead of the hour they thought they had.
He didn't hang around when it got to lunchtime, grabbing his things and practically running out of the door shouting out that he would see everyone tomorrow. He was so excited, he couldn't wait to see Tae and the drive there seemed to take forever.
Once parked he jumped down onto the rocks and did the familiar walk to their place, feeling apprehensive at whether he would be there already. He thought about their anniversary and seeing Tae for the first time here. He had so desperately wanted to approach him but was so scared of rejection he had stayed at a distance instead. The moment he had set eyes on him his whole world had spun on its axis and it was as if cupids arrow had struck him all over again. The thought that he would have to continue his life with Keyho and never touch Tae again was so painful that he'd considered moving back to Korea and living a lie there.
Thankfully, he had chosen to return to their special place on the anniversary of the date they had been torn apart and it was the best decision he'd made. Jungkook didn't care what hardships he had to face or how much fighting he had to do because nothing would be as hard as the last 6 years without Taehyung in his life.
Walking around the last rock into their little clearing, Jungkook held his breath but his heart nearly burst when he saw Tae waiting for him. His smile was returned automatically and they fell comfortably into each other's arms.
