Part 2: The Painful Ride

The week went on as normal. But only, it wasn't normal. Everyone was looking forward to the adventure awaiting them, and Riana had no clue that those two months would be the best time of her life. They had hired a van to travel in as seven people, one dog, and luggage packed for two months would fit into a tiny car. Zoe was driving of course. She was the only one who knew how to drive a stick shift vehicle. Everyone was making checklists, Ayelen had called up her university to prepone her vacation and they had said yes, Vanessa had arranged a replacement to run the school, and of course, Tyler had a ring ready. He had come over to Zoe's where the others were to show the ring. "Oh, it's beautiful!", said Vanessa. It was an oval, diamond ring with a gold band saying "Mine, forever and always" on the inside.

It was the day of the trip. Everyone had their luggage loaded up in the boot of the van. Zoe had come up with a checklist to check before leaving.

"Everyone's luggage........ check,

"Auro's luggage........ check,

"Kitchen utensils........ check,

"My laptop......... check.

"My camera bag......... check. Anything else?", Zoe asked the others who had a very criticizing look on their faces. "What? I like to be organized okay?", she protested. They just rolled their eyes. Evelyn went over to Tyler and said, "Got the ring?" so softly so that he was the only one who could hear. He nodded, smirking.

"Okay, guys! Let's get on the road!", cried Zack

"Dibs on shotgun!", Evelyn cried. "What?"

"That's only for kids.", said Vance, rolling his eyes.

"Whatever. I still get the front seat.", she replied. They all got inside, Zoe taking the driver's seat. Surprisingly, it was quite big, so Auro came and sat on her lap, cuddling. She stroked him softly and started what she called the "Sanitization process", where she would sanitize the steering wheel. "Sanitizing is key!", she yelled, before anyone could comment. Then, she started the engine, and everyone cheered. "How long is this ride going to be?", asked Vanessa.

"Well, according to Google Maps, it should take about three hours. It's just on the outskirts of New York", replied Zoe.

"WHAT?", cried Vance. "THREE HOURS?"

"That's a lot? Well, then don't come on holiday with our family. We drive for nine hours.", everyone was wide-eyed. The first hour was fine. Everyone was laughing, making jokes, teasing. But, when it came to the second hour, they lost it.

"How much longer?", Riana complained.

"We've only been on the road for an hour!", said Zoe.

"That's the point, idiot.", said Vanessa.

"Zoe, you're killing me!", cried Zach.

"What did I do?", cried Zoe.

"Can we please stop by a restaurant or something?", asked Tyler.

"Fine, where do you want to go?", she asked.

"Burger King!", screamed Riana.

"Mc Donald's!", screamed Ayelen.

"Café Coffee Day!", screamed Zach.

"Whichever comes first.", said Zoe. moments later, a Café Coffee Day retail store came by. Zoe parked the van, and everybody got out while Zach said, "Yes!". They had some coffee and some cookies and got back on the road. Another painful hour went by, with Zach, Vance, Ayelen, and Vanessa complaining about the long trip. Evelyn and Tyler were sleeping, and Riana was attempting to sleep on Tyler's lap.
