Only You And I

Chapter 26: a slight tint of blush

"Daddy! What's happening?!" I yelled, a force was pushing me away from him but I was still holding onto his hand. "They're trying taking you away from me, this is up to you, you can leave them and be with me forever or you can go back, which is it princess?" he said, holding onto my hand still. I thought to myself for a moment, which would be better? Then I made my decision, "daddy, I'm sorry, I'll see you again but I don't think this is the time, goodbye, I love you," I said to him, he just smiled and nodded, "I love you too princess, til we meet again," he said to me, as he let go of my hand, letting the force take me away.

My eyes instantly open and I am hyperventilating and wheezing, finding it impossible to breathe, like I've not been alive for the past ten minutes. I see two doctors next to me on my right side, I then looked around to see mum next to the doctors, Adam at the foot of the bed, then the girls on the left side next to Lee. Lee closest to me, holding my hand so close to his chest. "She'll be alright now, she just needs to get used to her surroundings again" the doctors informed her mother, she just nodded and looked at me with a sort of worried expression.

No POV (back to third person)

She just sat there, worried to see her loved ones expressions of worry and fear. "Might need to hit the sunbed babe," she chuckled to herself, trying to lighten the mood. Lee just smiled slightly and kissed the top of her hand, everyone else smiled slightly at the fact she's still making her stupid jokes. "Did you see dad?" Autumn asked her, leaning over the bed to get closer to her, Caitlyn just responded with a nod and an upset expression. This made Adam quite confused, raising his eyebrows, this caught Lees attention. Lee released Caitlyns hand and just reassured her that he will be back, then signaled Adam to follow him outside, which he did. "Hey bro, what's the big deal about her seeing her dad?" Adam asked, very confused and eager since he's being dying to ask since she spoke in her dream. Lee sighed gently, releasing any tension from his body, "Their father passed away.. his life was taken when they were just 8.. so, if Caitlyn saw her father and interacted with him then-" Lee was then suddenly cut off by Adam, "-she would've been dead." Adam finished his sentence. 

They walked back into the room, to see a doctor standing there with his check board. "Miss McNally, you were pronounced dead for 13 minutes, you survived though, we don't know how but it's a miracle," the doctor to said to Caitlyn, who was trying to process as much information as she could. "So, Dr..?" their mother asked him, "oh, Dr. Fadmin" he replied, giving her the opportunity to continue with her question. "Dr. Fadmin, I have 2 questions, 1. do you know the cause of this?" she asked with a tone of concern in her voice. "We ran a few test and did have to do a full body scan I am afraid, don't worry, we got a female nurse so you don't feel as tense when you found out, and we found a vast amount of your skin tampered with. Do you know how we mean, Caitlyn?" the doctor asked, giving a sympathetic look. She just nodded and looked down in shame and as if she were a disappointment. He bopped his head up and down a few times and looked back to her mother. "Basically, she was losing blood," he said "and your other question?" he asked so he could attend to his other patients. "Oh yes, erm... are you... married?" she asked, with a slight tint of blush on her cheek. He just giggled to himself, "no, I'm actually widowed, I haven't taken another lover since her, she was taken from me after standing up for her right, this was 4 years ago." 

"Widowed you say? I, in fact, am in the same predicament as you Dr. Fadmin."
