It was getting dark, extremely dark. Thunder cracked like whips as the curtains blew back and forward as Susie held the pillow over her head trying desperately to drown out the overbearing sound.

Sarah patted her daughters shoulder in reassurance, "Shhh....its gonna be alright sunshine, just try and sleep alright?", her mother cooed softly Susie nodding slowly in reply trying so desperately to get comfortable under the irritating and itchy sheets of the linen.

Susie took in deep breathes as her mother stroked her brown uncleaned tangled locks, her touch soothing and soft. Her muscles unclenched and relaxed for a change, not all riled up and rearing to run about and jump and do whatever she pleased.

She felt wrong without her mother nearby. She wanted to be independent. She wanted to be average. She wanted to just blend in and be alone and nothing to ever happen to her.

She would be let out of the hospital in the upcoming days. The bill would be crushing, making the pair of them to sink more and more into dispair.

Susie would bring us out of this. Her school work, her determination and amazing grades will do our family proud,Sarah thought to herself with a weak smile as she sang softly.

A peaceful lullaby.

"Go to sleep my little baby close your eyes and go to sleep the sun will rise and you'll wake up good morning to all your greets..."

Susie snored loudly, a treasured sound to hear. Sarah smiled with a chuckle and exhale, combing through her daughters dark locks, smoothing them out, feeling the roughness of her scalp, that's another thing she wished.

She had more money.

More money to keep Susie better.

Susie was a frankensteins mess of problems, her hair clumped and scalp scaled with scabs and pustules, her teeth and gums ruined beyond recognition of its once pearly whiteness much like her mother's, and the scar tissue around both of her wrists.

It was hellish.

Seeing this again.

It was hellish seeing it happen before her eyes at home but it drove Sarah mad knowing Susie could be hurting herself without her knowledge.

Sarah would of educated Susie herself if she was knowledgeable enough but as a teenager Sarah didn't do well much like her daughter now, but off course she did not know that, Susie was a great student, always finishing their work on time, finishing work in perfect timing so they could have nights off.

Sarah tucked Susie's plush under her Susie's arm wrapping the linen hospital sheets more tightly, she looked peaceful but cold.

Another problem at home. Lack of heating. That house they lived in lacked lots of things.

The pink skinned lady pulled her blue raincoat of the back of her seat and laid it atop of her daughter, planting a gentle peck on their child's forehead brushing the fringe out of Susie's eyes, eyelids closed over. She brought her chair over and rested her head on the bed's railing

"Goodnight my dear.", Sarah spoke softly now herself tumbling into the darkness of her shackled mind of worry and guilt but that's what being a parent is about isn't it?

💜💜💜

Noelle sighed as she lightly tapped on the outside of the door another bouquet in hand, "I h..hope this isn't much...",she mumbled to herself flustered pulling at her collar, imaginary steam billowing out of it thinking of quite steamy things regarding a certain purple skinned individual.

"Dr Dings...?", a voice sluggish beckoned, Noelle shuffled through the slight crack of the door and entered, her hoofed steps echoing in the near empty ward, just Sarah, a bed, a cabinet and the usual hospital machinery and such hooked up to Susie, the pale yellow rays lying over the sleeping lizard, "Oh....you again.", Sarah lifted up her head, her tone indicating she wasn't impressed in the slightest at the appearance of Noelle,

"Y-yep! With m..more flowers! I..I don't like seeing her like this.", Noelle mumbled placing it and rearranging the bouquet of yellow flowers in the glass vase, "S-sorry if I'm annoying or something...I just like people to know that there's someone there-",

"I'm here now scram.", Sarah stood with red strained eyes staring down at her making Noelle squeak.

Noelle dashed out of the room in a panic, doors slamming shut behind her as she ran out of the hospital.

She panted and wheezed, she stood arched over hands on her knees panting, "O-oh sweet Christmas Crakers...Susie's mom is a crazy lady...!",she wiped her brow. Her shoulder slouching even more.

"T...there's no way I'm going to see Susie if her mom is like that....", she thought disheartened.

Noelle shook her head and swept those thoughts from her mind. This silly little crush wasn't important right now, Susie was in a near critical state, she slashed her arms apart!

She couldn't possibly comprehend why Susie would ever do such a thing to herself, she we beyond pretty, she was beyond strong. Noelle was infatuated with her for the longest of times.

Furthermore she was intently curious about Susie. How could anyone not wonder about the lizard who smashed people into lockers, a total recluse if she wasn't on a rampage. Susie was also a topic of debate at school. She was unliked by her peers, Catti hated her guts for some inexplicable reason. Susie was as a person was just so...nebulous to her for the longest time.

The only emotions she'd ever show was rage, anger or indifference. She was this total badass at school who ignored every single rule and struck out on her own, her own path.

Noelle cherished that quality. The shy deer found herself walking along a street with no place in mind to go to, she just needed something to keep her occupied as she thought and thought about Susie.

Susie was this dark hue, her scales this brilliant shade of purple, like a gem stone. Amethyst. That was the word. She had amethyst skin and golden eyes that glared through her thick foliage of dark brown locks. There was an odd occasion or two where Susie would look at her. Stare at her.

Noelle would freeze solid for a few seconds, the world seemingly stopping dead in its tracks before she'd run away with her soul beating a mad rhythm, her face stained red for the entirety of the lesson after. Just a glare and Noelle would be beetroot red for a full hour. The stare Susie would give was sullen and soft, an expression Noelle would never have expected from someone so powerful.

That's where it started.

That glare started it all.

And remembering that thought she crushed on Susie even harder.
