Chapter 11

Two years had passed and Matthew was graduating that day. He was very nervous as the graduation was about to start in an hour and he hadn't dressed up yet. He quickly took a shower and dressed up.

Its been nine months since Matthew and Sara broke up. They were still friends now but when they were together, they just realised that it wasn't going to work out and it would be toxic for both of them.

Matthew was never in love with Sara so of course he knew it had to break someday, and it did. It was all okay. But one thing always disturbed him.

What happened to Rolland? That day after Rolland ran away from them, Matthew hadn't seen him after that. He tried calling him, but little did he know that Rolland threw away his phone and had got a new one.
Matthew even tried to go to their house, but it was always locked, and he found out from the neighbours that they had moved out.

Matthew missed Rolland more than ever and somewhere, he felt guilty too. He never really understood Rolland .

Soon enough, he went to the ceremony and met up with his friends. His family had also come to see him graduate. It was going to be huge. But he wanted to share his happiness with Rolland too, oh how much he missed him.

After some time, when Matthew went to take his degree on the stage and posed for a photograph, he saw someone familiar in the distance, clapping.

He quickly got off the stage and after the ceremony was over, he went near that person. It was Rolland.

Matthew almost cried at the sight of him and immediately hugged him. Rolland was crying too as his heart ached from the memories.

"Where were you all these years and-", Matthew almost ran out of breath while speaking.

" Hey don't cry....I'm sorry , my mom had to move to our hometown. For two years, and just yesterday we moved back here. I remembered today was your graduation so i thought I'd just come here and..", Rolland spoke slowly but before he could finish Matthew leaped at him again, pulling him into another cozy hug.

Rolland never felt much happier before. All those years, he felt empty , and now he was back in the strong arms of his love. His....love.

Rolland pulled away and with teary eyes asked," Where's Sara? How's it uh going?".

Matthew shrugged and said," Oh uh we broke up nine months before. It took a long time for her to realise that it wasn't working. I mean, she's nice and good and all but, she's not the kind of person I'd fall for."

And then Rolland asked with pain in his voice," Then who is?"

Matthew was struck by it, and as he gazed into Rolland's eyes, he could feel what he didn't feel before. He realised how much he  loved Rolland. He had always loved him  but never realised it.

With a soft smile on his face, Matthew said," You or course." And with that Rolland jumped up on Matthew and pulled him into a kiss.

"I love you so much......I've waited for you for so long.", Rolland said in between their kiss and tears.

" I'm so sorry. I'm a bit slow on the uptake.", said Matthew.

After what seemed like hours, they pulled away from the kiss,and smiled at each other, looking into each other's eyes with so much love and passion, as if they had never been loved before. It all seemed so impossible but it was happening.

And they both broke out of each other's gaze as they realised that someone was clapping. They looked at them, and saw Sara, Chris, Matthew's dad and a small kid, who was Rolland's brother clapping as they enjoyed the show.

Both of them smiled and it was just so magical.

Rolland and Matthew have been dating for over two years and it was a month since Rolland graduated too.

Matthew was working as a teacher in a private school, while Rolland had already applied for a job in  a tourism company.

Both were walking at their usual spot by the bridge when Matthew suddenly said,"hey you know what?"

"What?"

And then Matthew pulled out a ring infront of him. "Marry me"

Rolland went red and almost cried as he said," Oh my God Matt.....yes please."

Matthew slipped the ring in Rolland's finger and they both hugged each other.

"I can't wait till I can call you my husband.",Matthew said.

" Then what are you waiting for?"

"Let's ask your mom first now shall we?"

"Yes... Yes lets go."

Both of them walked hand in hand as they reached Rolland's home. His mom was working on her laptop and she just smiled at the sight of them.

"Mom, we have to tell you something.", Rolland said nervously.

" Yes go on", his mom said, without looking up from her work.

Rolland looked at Matthew.

"Ready?"

"Ready!"

"Mom, I want to marry him."
