Emée's Point of View

Today was the big day.

I thought the wedding was supposed to be "private" with few people but for some reason, it seemed the whole kingdom was invited. Alexandre was someone important for the court so his definition of simple probably wasn't the same as mine. Maybe it was a way to show the Alderia our union.

The day had started with being woken up by a maid, bringing me breakfast. This habit was starting to make me feel completely useless and unable. I had eaten, taken a long bath because baths are how you mentally prepare to a hard day.

I must have been preparing for a little too long as I heard Marie's voice outside.

"Emée? Are you alright? We need to get you ready, dear." She said after knocking a few times.

"Yes, I'm coming out!" I finished washing and drying myself and got out in my white fluffy robe with my long brown hair stuck inside a small towel of the same color.

"Good morning Emée. I have insisted to be the one taking care of you today, I hope you don't mind?" The sweet lady asked.

Marie was sitting on a low stool, beside a vanity that had obviously been brought here while I was under the shower. It was everything a girl could dream of: a light wooden table with hairbrushes, makeup brushes and all sorts of powders in front of a high oval mirror.

"Of course not!" I was so happy to have someone I could talk honestly with. "But why are we starting so early?"

"Well it's already pretty late, dear. You slept for quite some time and you seemed adamant in transforming the bathroom into a sauna." I blushed, yes that was definitely my type.

She went on. "We're going to need time for your hair to dry and perhaps for some last adjustments on the dress." I nodded.

"When does the ceremony begins?" I asked. Nothing had been told to me yet.

"Oh yes, that. I also have to tell you everything regarding the organization." She stood up.

"Sit down, I'm going to start on your hair while I explain."

I sat on the stool and while she took a brush, I got the huge mass of hair out of the towel. It was so tangled I wondered how she would manage to brush it without making me bald.

"So." She said while rubbing an oil on the knots and pulling on my hair surprisingly not so painfully. "The ceremony will be held outside of the grand hall at 5 in the afternoon and the reception will be inside for the rest of the night. It's not a royal wedding so it's not directly in the throne room luckily."

"Why luckily?"

"Makes it easier to escape, doesn't it?" She said winking through the reflection of the mirror.

"I... guess." She didn't seem to want to tell me what was going through her mind as she went on about the other arrangements.

"You will arrive last, from the end of the room. Queen Bali herself will seal your union. The room is red and white themed, it's actually pretty well decorated, you will see for yourself. You will march slowly alone in the long alley to reach Alexandre. You don't really have anything to say, just wait until Queen Bali asks if you consent."

"What happens if I say no?" I cut her. I didn't really care about how the room was decorated to be honest, I was only panicking because escaping was now or never.

"Honey, it's better if you stick to the plan. I promise we're going to help you but you need to make it look like everything is fine. You're not going to have much time alone during the party so you must follow our guidelines." She looked into my eyes through the mirror. I was intimidated but one thing I didn't get was why they kept me out of their plan. Why couldn't I know anything? I didn't get to ask as Marie went on with her explanations.
