"Shit."Peter had lost track of time, and was now running late to his 'internship'. He dodged through traffic, running as fast as he could. Normally, he'd be swinging his way there, but with all the crazy going on, Da-Tony advised against it.
"Stupid Gwen and her stupid gossip. Stupid Eddie and his stupid need to find out about everything. Stupid Lily and her stupid coffee." He grumbled to himself as he pushed forward. His friends were CONVINCED that he was dating 'Wade', as he refuses to admit that the guy he was texting was THE Deadpool! They had been prying all day, since his dating life hade be nonexistent.
"And stupid Wade and his stupid funny jokes!" He walked through the front door of the tower, giving a slight wave the the ladies at the front desk. He didn't have time to greet them, he was sooo late! Da-Tony was going to kill him.
The elevator door was about to close as he got to it. Panicking, Peter yelled out.
"Hold it!!!!" His voice cracked.
A hand stuck out and Peter got in. After a moment of wheezing, trying to catch his breathe, he straightened up to thank his savior.
"Thank yo- DEADPOOL?!!"
"Hey Pete! Great to see you! Thought you'd be up there with IronDick?" Wade joked, a grin seen through his mask. Turning, he leaned slightly over the intern with interest. "Now why would Stark's perfect intern be late?"
Peter panicked, what should he say? It's not like he can tell Wade that he got held up because his friends think they're dating! Think Parker think!!
"I-uh ... got held up by one of my friends? Yeah, she likes to gossip and one of our friends got a new b-boyfriend. Yeah, and I lost track of time..." Some of the best lies have truth in them, since Gwen technically did talk about Eddie and V, Peter thought it would be believable enough. Please let Wade believe it.
The old man straightened up, humming to himself. Whether or not he believed, he was not letting on. They made the rest of the ride up in silence. The door dining as they arrived.
"Beauty before age~" Wade sang out as he bows. Blushing, Peter just mumbles a thanks and walks out. The merc following no far behind.
"Peter Benjamin Parker!!! You have better have a good reason for worrying the hell out of me!!! I was about to suit up and go looking for you! Why are you late?!?" Tony burst into the lobby, a mix of worry and anger on his face. Peter slouched with shame, not noticing the man next to him stiffening up defensively. Staring at his feet, Peter replied.
"I'm sorry, Da-Mr. Stark. I was talking with my friends and lost track of time. I didn't mean to make you worried." He was trying his best not to show how badly he wanted to cry. Tony let out a sigh, and came up and hugged the kid.
"It's alright... I was just so worried about you... This whole Spider-Man thing is pulling my perspective on a few things. I'm letting every little thing get to me, and I already 'worry like a mother hen' as Clint puts it. It's not your fault kid."
Peter relaxed, nodding as he tightened the hug. This whole thing was causing Peter to wear himself out emotionally as well. It's been hard on both of them. When Tony let go finally, he excused himself to the kitchen. He was tired and hungry, and just relieved that Tony wasn't mad at him.
After an awkward moment of silence, Tony turned to Wade.
"Tell me what you got."
