"And greet uncle Max for me I told him you're coming he'll be waiting for you at the airport when you arrive" mom said with a huge teary smile.

"Be careful , I love you, stay out of trouble, call me every night, call me when you land, I. Love. You Oli"

"I love you too mom", I replied tears already making their way down my cheeks.Yes I'm a cry baby but only my mom knows this side of me.

"I'm going to miss you you know"

She said looking down to my airplane ticket that I got through a grant. And for the time I had left I hugged her tears still flowing.

I felt like I was leaving behind my world to enter another. But life is all about risks right?

"Good afternoon passengers. This is the pre-boarding announcement for flight 89B to England. We are now inviting those passengers with small children, and any passengers requiring special assistance, to begin boarding at this time. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Regular boarding will begin in approximately ten minutes time. Thank you."

Using a grant meant I required special assistance so this was it . The moment I left my mother. I couldn't take it , carrying my small suitcase and a book bag , I walked away ready to go , I looked back and saw my mother for the last time. I wasnt going to die it's an expression.

"Goodbye Oliver " my mother whispered from the looks of it she was just about to scream , or cry anything but anyone could see that she was in pain. I loved her but I had to make a choice and the right choices come with a cost , this was mine.

"Goodbye mother" I waved, carried my bags and boarded my plane after clearing all the information needed.

I perched in one of the comfortable plane seats and put my headset on. Playing a sad song I looked out the window and wondered what England would be like.

Had I made the right choice.

"This is the final boarding call for passengers Erin and Fred Collins booked on flight 89B to England. Please proceed to gate 3 immediately. The final checks are being completed and the captain will order for the doors of the aircraft to close in approximately five minutes time. I repeat. This is the final boarding call for Erin and Fred Collins. Thank you."

The final boarding announcement pulled me out of my thoughts.

After the take off announcement I felt so nervous. This was my first time being on a plane I felt terrified.
Closing my eyes I began to remember a way to calm down I'd learnt on a telenovela.

Breathe in breathe out , exhale ,inhale slowly. And that is how I managed not to panic when the plane began to fly.

Staring out the window I muttered to myself University here I come.
