William's (Carter's) POV

"I do not know mother"

"I will ask Adeleine to converse with you in the morning" she said sternly taking a seat in her Golden chair as a servant placed her crown on her head.

"When do I have to take the throne?" I finally asked once the servant had left.

"Well this week ofcourse " she exclaimed in an obvious tone

"But I can not do that I just got back"
I protested

"Stop acting immature you have been trained to do this since birth"

"Okay" I finally gave up

"I have picked a list of brides for you" she smiled

And my heart throbbed. Oliver.

"I will not marry someone of your choice marriage is a life commitment!" I snapped .

"Your father and I were arranged" she muttered. And the mention of my father made me keep quiet. I still couldn't believe he had passed away.

"I would not do it I shan't marry anyone you choose" a few years ago I would have agreed but one feisty person was on my mind and I couldnt break her heart not like this.

"Tis already decided you ought to marry a duchess, an heiress or somebody titled and hold a stately wedding" she argued raising her royal chin.

"Tis my life I get to do what I want!"

"You think just because you got a little freedom from your father and attended that University you now have free will?"she questioned

"I am not going to say anything to disrespect you mother" I finally said after thinking through.

"You are a well born young man son , I shan't grant you permission to make youthly decisions that are not courtly"

"Nothing is going to change my mind"

"You need to keep decorous relations with the civilians as a King" she stated.

"Mother" I whispered.

"Act well bred William you are neither a plebeian nor are you barbaric"

"I will not marry mother!" I snapped harshly.

"You are so stubborn , coarse and you lack urbane" she said annoyed

"Thank you" I gave a toothy grin

"Then so be it! You are going to be an eternally single Haughty King"

"I am not haughty. What if my utmost desire is to wed someone of my choice"

"Do not test me William Harry if you are going to talk about that commoner you had a fling with do not even think twice about it"

How did she know?

"You are a prince I had to keep tabs on you and son she is not even debonair" she answered my question.

"I do not feel okay hence I  shall see myself to my chambers now" I said standing up.

"You are not allowed to leave this palace until I am satisfied you are not going to follow that commoner and bring her to my home" she hissed.

"I am old enough to make my own decisions mother"

"Your life is top drawer I would not allow a royal mess to pass under my nose for the sake of your satisfaction"

"Whatever!" I harshly replied leaving the room.
