Daniel's pov

I ran as fast as I could into the house and lifted Lana up who was just a few feet away from the door. I spun her around and kissed her passionately. At the intrusion, she wrapped her arms around me and pulled me closer. I enjoyed the peaceful moment and kissed her hungrily. Sadly, we were interrupted by a cough from Mason.

"Dude, could you please tell us where the heck you have been," he scolded me with a serious look on his face.

My mood grew serious again when I thought about what had happened. "Yes, that is something I have to discuss with all of you. Where is Jack?"

"He's outside looking for you, but I am sure he'll be back soon," Lana answered. When I reached the dining room, I felt anger and fear rise in my chest. It took me a while to realize they weren't my emotions and not those of Lana, who was standing confused besides me. My breath hitched as I realized who's it was. Jack.

In a few seconds, I was outside running into the woods. Picking up his scent wasn't hard. I didn't turn into my wolf because the scent was strong. He must be a few hundred meters away. I knew I was almost there when I felt a sharp string at my chest. Knowing Jack was fighting, I ran faster than ever. Almost there I thought to myself, and then, I couldn't feel Jack's presence at all. I couldn't feel his emotions anymore. My blood started to boil at the thought that something happened to him.

I turned swiftly as something red caught my eye. When I turn to see what it was, I saw a woman in red and Jack. Jack was tied to a tree while blood flowed from his mouth and chest. He was unconscious.

My eyes widened in shock at the scene. How could the fight be over this fast? Jack is one of our best fighters. How could it be over already?

I turned to the women beside him who was smiling lovingly at me. "Well, well, you must be the great US-alpha. You don't look so strong."

"What have you done with my mate?" I growled at her, barely keeping my anger in check.

"Well, first, I punch him in the face, and then I cut him with a knife, and after that, I beat him unconscious, and then, I tied him up, but he had it coming. He hit me." The woman pouted and pointed to a bruise under her eye. "Well, it was a shame to cut him. I mean, look at that face - just beautiful - and have you seen his abs - so delicious." The devil grinned and pulled up Jack's shirt, showing me his blood-covered eight-pack.

I growled at her, furious that she was touching my mate. The strange thing was, the blood wouldn't stop. A normal werewolf would have stopped bleeding by now, but Jack's wound wasn't healing.

"Well, now that you're here, I have to kill you. Don't I?" She took a few steps towards me. I went to stand in a fighting mode, letting her make her approach, when suddenly she stopped in her tracks and looked at something behind me. She looked shocked which was a huge crack in her act.

"How- how-" she stuttered.

I took a quick look behind me, and I saw June holding two guns, pointed at the woman, and in the background, Mason was holding Lana who was staring shocked and hurt at Jack. June made few steps towards the women until she was standing right beside me. The eyes of the women continued to follow June's every move, still not recovering from whatever shock she was in.

June's face was like stone when she asked, "Who are you?"

"You- you don't remember, of course, you don't." At that answer, June cocked her guns and repeated her question again, emotionless.

"Who are you?"

To that, the woman straightened her back, smiled, and said, "I am your mom, sweetie. Wow, I sound like Darth Vader." The last part, she mumbled to herself. "But it's true. I really am your Mother."

The only reaction she got from June was one eyebrow that went up. "Liar, I don't have a mom." And with that said, June opened fire.

Just before the bullets pierced the woman, she disappeared into thin air. For a few seconds, it was silent with only the clang of the bullets going through the air. Lana ripped herself out of Mason's grip and ran up to where Jack was. She touched his still unconscious face with tears in her eyes. She quickly snapped out of her state and went to untie him.

I ran up to them and caught him when he fell. I carried him bridal style and placed my thumb just under his wound, which still wasn't closed. I spun around on my heels and began to walk back quickly, but June stopped me before I got too far. She asked Mason for his shirt, ripped it into pieces, and bound it around Jack's chest. Then, she gave me a nod to which I returned.

June stayed behind with Mason while Lana and I made our way back, carrying Jack. All I could think about on the way back was my regret. If I was there sooner, this wouldn't have happened, or if I hadn't gone away in the first place, this wouldn't have happened.

I laid Jack on the back seat of the car while Lana sat beside him. I drove up to two-hundred kilometers-an-hour while ignoring every red light.

"Daniel drive slower! You're going to get us killed before were even there," Lana shouted, scared.

I took my speed back a little and mind linked the doctors about Jack's condition. When we came in, the hospital there was already prepared, the doctors waiting for us before they took Jack away quickly. I wanted to stay with him, but I knew I couldn't, so Lana and I made our way to a couch.

We sat a few minutes in silence until Lana asked, "He'll be okay, won't he?" Before I could answer, Jack's parents stormed in. When they spotted us, they ran up.

Jack's mom, Ariella, grabbed my shoulders and almost shouted, "Is my little boy okay."

I gave her a hug and said, "He'll be okay."

When I pulled out of the hug, I saw tears in her eyes and distress in Jack's father's face. It was all my fault.

'Shut the hell up,' My wolf shouted at me. 'Stop having so much self-pity. Take a deep breath and grow up.' I followed my wolf instructions. I took a deep breath and pushed my own feelings to the back.

I smiled at Ariella and asked her if she wanted to drink some coffee. At that moment, a woman came walking up to us. "What did I hear? Something happened to my little nephew?" The woman was called Sam, Jack's aunt. She was a really cool person, but when she is mad, you should run.

"Are you alright darling," she asked Lana when she took a seat next to her. Soon, those two were talking like old friends. I took Jack's parent to drink some coffee and talked about Jack's sister and stuff.

A doctor with a thick book under his arm came walking up to us and asked me if I could follow him. When we were alone, he began to speak "My name is Mr. Collard, and I was in charge of the operation of your mate. We had to do stitches, just like what would have happened with a human. He has lost a lot of blood, so he has to rest from now on, but he'll live"

"Why didn't he heal," I asked him.

"That is because of witchcraft. He was probably cut with a knife with some kind of curse on it. Witches are very rare and dangerous. If there is trouble with one of them, it's better to read this book." With that, he handed me the thick book he was holding. He turned and began to walk away until he realized he forgot something to say something. He turned and stated quietly, "Alpha, it's no coincidence that witches are feared. When they set their mind on something, they almost always get it." With that, the doctor walked away.
